Rated 5 out of 5 by Good reel for the price I purchased 3 a few years ago thay are excellent trolling reels for salmon, Albco and Yellowtail The clicker springs broke after hard use But are easy to fix I called Okuma to report the week springs. The new reel I purchased last week seems to have a stronger clicker. Mike on the Costa Lotta March 7, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding reel Bought the 50 series about 2 months ago I do a lot of cat fishing back home and a week ago I used it for snagging spoonbill back home and I have to say that was a little worried about casting a lever drag but the reel preformed flawlessly I can sling a 3 oz sinker about 75 yards pretty easy and as for the drag well I pulled in a 70lb spoonbill in heavy current with ease over all if you need a reel that you have to put some strain on this will do everything you need it to and more April 1, 2012

Details:
Is the adjustment for casting to avoid backlashing the same as with the Penn GTO 220?
I have purchased the 15, I do enjoy the conventional style for casting as well as trolling. Will this reel, give me maximum distance in casting for surf or pier style fishing? I will be spooling 80lb braid. Hopefully this reel will funtion well with braid line?

A:
Yes. Has a good clicker that will keep
the spool from turning too easily when
left in free-spool. I used it on a pier while
also fishing a lighter rig: left it in free-spool with clicker on and kept me from losing the rig.

A:
Yes, power pro would be fine with this reel. I usually put on a 100 ft. wind on mono top shot in lieu of a shock leader. Max drag is 22# for both the 10L and 15L, 15# at strike.

The 10 may be a little large for constant casting on the heavy baits. It is definitely doable though.
