This Okuma rod I have used for 2 years trolling and catching trout, kokanee and macs up to 8 pounds. It is sensitive and yet very strong. It is the best trout trolling rod I have and I have 5-6 others. I fish it with a Shimano Cardiff 100 and they work perfectly together.

I got into rod building because I could not find a rod that met want I wanted for Kokanee fishing. Once I saw these rods I ordered 2 and was so impressed I immediately ordered 2 more. I have only been out once since purchasing these rods but am completely satisfied. I want a rod that is short for boat fishing and light enough action for the soft mouthed Kokanee. This rod fulfills both of these requirements and to top it off I cannot build a rod of this quality for the cost. I cannot give a recommendation on durability but for performance and functionality I highly recommend.

I purchased this rod to replace one of my dad's old rods that I broke. I now will be purchasing several more. This is my favorite rod ever for Kokanee. The first day out I got three Kokanee that are already over 14in. This will hopefully be a good year to test how the rod does for some bigger Kokes. If you are downrigger fishing for Kokes and need a new rod, buy this one.
