Use the Ohero Vent For LifeĀ® device on fish brought up from deep water (approximately 50' or greater) that exhibit an inverted stomach, bugging eyes and ruptured scales due to rapid change in pressure. The Vent For Life is an affordable, easy-to-use fish venting tool, and includes a Vent For Life sheath with lanyard clip for convenience.

Regulations now require vessels fishing in the Gulf of Mexico to carry a venting tool onboard.

Avoid buying Bought this product for offshore fishing, mainly for venting red snapper in the Atlantic. This product is very cheaply made and hard to use. First, it isn't easy to get under the scales of the fish in order to reach the swim bladder becuase the opening on the end of the needle is so big. Also, with the hole being on the end of the needle, it cuts out a small hole in the fish's skin instead of making a small slit like other tools. The removed skin is stuck up in the needle and I had to take the tool apart to get the leftover skin out. Another problem is when trying to push the needle into the skin, the needle bent backwards splitting the shell that houses the needle. This tool is not worth the price tag and does a lot of damage to the fish. Save your money and the fish by investing in a different venting tool. July 9, 2014
Clogs It clogs after a few uses. The folding setup doesn't allow for it to be cleared either. August 7, 2014
Fl law Florida dictated that anyone who fishes for reef fish must have a vent tool on boat. It looks good hanging next to my dehooker. Never go out far enough for over 50ft but you know them Fish Cops. September 20, 2011
