Our Offshore Angler Tightline Spinning Reels are saltwater warriors, with aluminum frame and sideplates, stainless steel bail wire, stainless steel main shaft, a brass alloy pinion gear, and a main gear that's a coated zinc alloy to resist corrosion.  Its 6-bearing system uses double-shielded stainless steel bearings and includes Powerlock™ instant anti-reverse. Unlike some reels, the machined-aluminum handle goes through the body and main gear and is screwed to the other side. The braid-grip arbor on the spool anchors your line, while a carbon fiber and Teflon® drag imparts smooth, consistent fish-fighting pressure. It's a powerful, rigid workhorse that can handle multiple species of saltwater game fish.
  • All-aluminum body and sideplates
  • Forged, double-anodized-aluminum spool
  • Graphite rotor (3000-6000 models)
  • Aluminum rotor (7000 and 8000)
  • Braid-grip spool arbor
  • Stainless steel main shaft
  • Main gear is coated zinc alloy to resist corrosion
  • Brass alloy pinion gear
  • Machined, anodized aluminum handle
  • 6 bearing system includes Powerlock instant anti-reverse
  • Carbon fiber/Teflon drag system

Offshore Angler® Tightline Spinning Reels 5 5 1 1
Good value. This reels are performing very well and they seems very solid. I ave bought two of the 8000 and like them so much that after few fishing trips I got me one of the 7000 model and two more of the 4000 for lighter preys. Only had in use them for few months now, but looks like they will last... September 16, 2014

Details:
It appears that all components described for the 7000 & 8000 are non-corrosive metal. Yet I don't see a description of the composition of the bearings and the main shaft/ drive shaft. Are they both non corrosive metal as well (such as stainless steel)? Also a review on another site says the handle attached to the main gear with a set screw rather than with a shaft through the middle held on by screw from the other side of the body. True? If so what is the significance and reason? Thanks!

A:
The bearings and main shaft are stainless steel. The reel does have a shaft through the middle which is held on by a screw on the other side of the body. The other review was mistaken.

Staff Answer
A:
Hi, reels of the 4000-size are fine and should be filled with 16-pound braided line and finished with a 20-pound fluorocarbon leader for Redfish fishing. Therefore, you might go with the SKU 2065679 or 2026114. Thank you
