I bought the 6' gaff for use when we couldn't keep up with netting the tuna. I gaffed five tuna in a row that ranged between 22 lbs and 28 lbs and it worked fine. The sharp point sliced right through them. I think it's wise to lift straight up to avoid too much bending stress on the shaft, but it feels strong in your hands and the hook seems securely mounted in the tapered end.

I picked up a small AJ (<25 lbs) with a new Offshore Angler tapered gaff and the hook pulled out of the gaff. First use? Luckily the fish was over the boat in a clear spot. Very disappointed in the (poor) quality of constuction.

double facet, beveled edge - it is NOT a round point, but two flat surfaces to form the facet. This type of point cuts instead of puncturing.Answers
