Offshore Angler™ Shad Head Wire Keeper Jigheads 4.2 5 6 6
great jighead I have used a lot of Jigheads and the Offshore Angler jigheads are the best I have used they help impart a lot of action to my Berkeley softbaits I fish here in the gulf. I bought 3 more packages and I know they will perform for me. December 2, 2014
Holds the bait! When you put a soft plastic bait on this jig head, it's not coming off till you pull it off. The wire barbs do a great job of not letting it slip back onto the hook shank. Did not rust after 1 week use in saltwater. July 1, 2014
best jig heads ever I bought these jig heads for the first time for my trip to Hatteras last summer. The two pieces of wire behind the head to hold the rubber jig in place works better than any jig head I have ever used and I have been fishing for over 50 years now. Great jig head. I just bought 5 more packs for this years fishing in the bay. March 13, 2014
A specific best This jighead will hold a bait made with 3X plastic (made with Cyber Flexx) by Strike King for a full day of fishing. I have actually used one bait for three days of constant casting. The caveat here is to be very careful when unhooking a fish since the wire keepers on the jighead will puncture your fingers...I always use pliers...also, much more force is required to affix the lure to the jighead. The head also holds other baits such as a Gulp shrimp very well. March 18, 2013

Details:
I'm doing a boundary waters(BWCA) trip in June. I wanna through Gulp and Alive grubs, flukes and swim baits 3" to 6". I'll bring a variety of jigs and hooks. These look like they work good with gulp but I don't want the hooks to be too short on the longer baits.

A:
The hook sizes appear to vary according to the different weights. I use an 4 inch Strike King 3X swim bait and it performs very well but much more force is needed to affix the bait to the head...... but will never slip ...

A:
I use the 1/2oz with a 6" swim bait. The hook is long enough, and I go without a stinger hook for northern pike in WI and Ontario. These would work well there (been there 3 times) though I'm not sure about sizes below 1/2oz, and the 1/2oz is probably too big for a 3" anything.
