Surf casting is what separates the men from the boys! Fun? This is a different kind of fun. It demands strength, endurance, and the grit to take whatever the sea and sky decide to throw at you. That's why you don't head out there with just any old rod. You take something you know is gonna make that stand with you. And have fun doing it. The Offshore Angler™ Power Stick™ Surf Spinning Rod is a real workhorse of a surf rod, made to withstand harsh conditions and get you into the fish, day-in and day-out. Two-piece, 42 million modulus IM7 graphite blank retains the flex and forgiveness needed for long-distance fishing, yet gives you the sensitivity to know what your lure is doing. Other Power Stick Rod features include tough stainless steel guides with top-grade aluminum oxide rings, graphite reel seat with stainless steel cushioned hoods, and a non-slip rubber-cork handle.
This rod is great!!! Had never used this kind of rod before but will now replace all my other salt water rods with this kind. I have the 8ft but will get the 10, and 12 as well. This rod was great for the smaller fish but also handled the larger ones with no problem. The extra long casting was also a plus!!!

I have caught up to a 1000lbs of fish a day on this rod from a 55 pound Black Drum to 28 pound Jack fish. The rod has never let me down when combined with my Penn 650 ssm. The only problem I've had was my own fault when I was casting a large swim bait to Jack fish and got the swivel connecting my line to my leader into the guides and knocked on out...easy repair and then back fishing. For the price this rod performs way above the price point...

I bought this rod and only used it once!
It handled the strike of a 50 lb tarpon very well. Lightweight and beautiful...Don't rated it 5 stars because I haven't tried it that much...but fo sar....very very nice rod!

This is a nice rod. It has great action and it casts a mile. You can spend a lot more money for the same results. I use it in salt water catching blues and stripers . It also works great catching catfish out of the river.

I would use a penn fierce. Their bodies are full metal. I've hauled in a 35lb striper and many blue in the Cape Cod canal. I've also fishing inshore and caughten many black sea bass and tautog. I recommend the frc 5000 or 6000 and use any size braid that you prefer. As for the baitrunner i would go for the 6000d.
