Back bone PLUS This rod was a replacement for a rod I broke during tuna battle, and this rod met and exceeded my expectations. I hooked up more fish and battled them right to the American Spirit. We got into a mess of nice kings and I caught so many I turned over my rod for others to bring them in. The two brothers on boat had the time of their lives catching them. I will replace the other rods as needed with these models as I was very happy with performance and cost. These are lower than some rods and I was not sure how well they would hold out, I have a new favorite. December 15, 2014
incredible value I have the 15-30 3/4-3oz model and it is outstanding for such an inexpensive rod. It has all the backbone in the world and moderate flex and fast action for incredible hook setting/fish fighting power. It has six large, super tough guides which allow for surprisingly good casting with heavy mono line. It's even fairly sensitive despite its heavy action. Also, the product description doesn't mention this, but mine has a Fuji reel seat. Bonus! It's a little heavy, but that's to be expected from a glass rod and it's well balanced, so that's not that big of a deal. I use mine for catfishing rivers and couldn't ask for a better rod for the task, especially for less than $60. May 29, 2014
Great Rods for the Prices! I bought the Offshore Angler - Power Stick, model PSS71017, 7.0', 10-17# line, 1/2-2oz, Light Lure Action. I matched it to a Penn Battle 5000 and this makes for a great combo for surf/pier and inshore. I could not ask for more performance from the rod. First fish on it was a 27# Black Drum in strong surf & outgoing tide. More than enough backbone to haul the fish through the waves & current. The action is great for jigging Spanish on the pier. Sensitive enough to fish flounder and feel the lightest taps. Heavy enough to haul Sheepshead off the pilings. I now have three Offshore Angler rods, and all three meet & exceed my expectation for rods in their prices ranges. Offshore Angler - Ocean Master - model OM12SS, surf/spinning, 12.0', 2pc, 6-12oz. Offshore Angler - Cobia Special - model OE81530, spinning, 8.0', 15-30#, 2-5oz July 6, 2013
Great rod. I have several of these and they are well worth the money. Great rod for a great price. June 10, 2013

A:
The rod has some nice flex to it and I was using mine for 20lb tunas and 20lb king mackeral with no problems at all. They have a back bone that is strong enough for big fish and yet light enough to see/feel bite.

A:
The 8' model has a pretty fast action, but it's also pretty forgiving. Definitely not a pool cue, but not a wet noodle, either. I use it for catfishing with live bait and it's perfect for that.

Depends on the particular model's action.
There are various models/lengths and actions.
