Rated 4 out of 5 by nice for the price Got the 6'6" rod for an offshore party boat trip in panama city and it work surprisingly well for only $20. matched it with a quantum optix 60 and had a good time. Going again in a few months May 8, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Offshore ,off track Very unsatisfied . Even for the price. Way to bulky ,missing chunks of paint middle connection already chipping . Should I go on...? May 1, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great buy for the money. I bought the 15ft 3piece model #1047. Took it over to the Bahamas to try it out. Worked out just fine. The balance and weight was just right. The long handle made it akward to cast at first, but it got better with practise. All in all, a great buy for the money. April 9, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by awsome great rod for the price could not ask for better customer service thanks bass pro shops March 18, 2013

pier and surf fishing

Details:
I will be buying 2 of these rods for my upcoming trip. One for pier fishing and one for surf fishing. Which models should I chose? Im thinking of pairing it with a Penn Fierce 5000 or 6000?

Answers

A:
I purchased the 7' rated up to 2oz and put a Penn Fierce 4000 on it, and have not been dissapointed. It's pulled in quite a few reds, trout, and cats in the Mobile Bay area. They can feel a bit heavy after casting for awhile but what rods don't feel this way when fishing from the shore.

big. i would use at least a 6000 size reel. its a pretty heavy rod and a small reel will not balance well at all. i use a 5000 with the 12' and that is almost too small of a reel

Handle A is a standard handle for a saltwater spinning rod and is about 16" long.... Handle B is the same except its about 26" so it give the reel a much higher mounting position.

Details:
I fish for sturgeon in strong current and often need to use 10oz weights or heavier. I was wondering if this rod is able to handle that. Also, does this rod have a sensitive tip? because sturgeon "pumps" are hard to detect on stiff rods and therefore, a soft tip is critical. I need these answers as it is critical to whether or not I will purchase this rod.

I have the 15 footer and I use 8oz weight most of the time but with heavy current is have used up to 15 and it has done fine and even with a 3 to 4 foot leader off the weight the tip is sensitive enough i feel sand sharks eating my cut bait.

A:
I have purchased this rod for Striper fishing off the beaches. It seems like it will hold up very well, lots of tip action and seems like it has a lot of backbone for those big fish. I have yet to use thism rod as the stripers are not up here in the Boston region yet, but I feel very confident that I have made a good purchase. I got the 9 ft..
