Powerful pelagics present the toughest challenges a fishing rod can face...so we started fresh, bringing every pertinent advance in rod building materials and design to bear on this series. Our staff determined that E-glass is still the best blank material, but we took it a step further, applying our Slit Carbon Powerwall Construction process to further enhance the hoop strength and sensitivity. Braced chromed stainless steel guides and carbide tiptops eliminate the chance of failure; also feature an ultra-comfortable triangular foregrip, capped and gimbaled butts, and superb "eye candy" detailing.

Matched 2 offshore angler exteme rods with Diawa Saltist 40 reels spooled with 20 lb mono. Both rods had multiple eyes break free from the rod with fish on. Very poorly designed eye guides.

I used one of these rods last winter while fishing Dorado, Wahoo, Sailfish and Tuna near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The rod is really good looking. The finish looks superb when new but some of the paint came off after three trips. The rod failed after 5 trips. The rod tip guide is poorly designed. The guide support arms come to a "V" on the top of the guide. I had a 20 lb Dorado on and the support arms broke loose from the weld rendering the rod useless. The rod has been replaced by Bass Pro and I will try it again this winter but the rod guide design has not changed.

I recently purchased the 7' live bait rod in the 20-50 lb. class. In most cases you might think that this rod is nice for short casts and large fish and you would be correct. What most anglers want in a live bait rod is something that is light enough to throw live bait with as well as the beefiness to handle a large fish.If that's what you are looking for then the Offshore Angler Extreme live bait rod is just the ticket.Load up your spinning reel with 50# Magibraid and let the good times roll! In the last thirty plus years this the most versatile offshore rod I have ever owned. The cosmetic features of these rods is as outstanding as the performance they give.Rods costing much more have nothing on these live bait rods from Bass Pro. If you want to catch big fish and look sharp doing it, then look no more this is the rod for your offshore needs.
