I purchased the OE2050 model for tidal river catfishing. The rod has a very soft tip I guess to improve live bait action, but I am fishing cut bait. I thought at first the rod might be too spongy for me, but the backbone kicks in pretty quick on this rod. I caught a 40# blue in current, casting 8oz of lead and a big shad head, and it handled admirably. A true test would be an angry 50 or 60# blue, but I have confidence this rod will do just fine.
As others have alluded to, this rod is gorgeous. The attention to detail is apparent. You can usually find flaws in any rod, but not on this one. Fit and finish is superb. And once you go triangle grip, you'll never want to go back.

I catch very large sturgeon on these rods on 80 lb braid with very heavy drags and they are great. My kids even let the rod rest midway up on the rail and the blanks still haven't failed me yet. A lot of rods would brake under this kind of stress. 400 plus pound fish.

I always thought someone who purchases a rod based on looks was an idiot. I gotta say tho, these rods are GREAT looking. In fact, if they ever changed thier stand up rods to this metalic irridescent blue color w/ chrome accents I would be tempted to replace all 7 of my boat rods. The rod performs well, has a soft tip and descent backbone. I wish the guides were ceramic insert, but they work well enough and look excellent on the dark blue rod. I paired the rod with a Torium 30 and power pro 65lb test, which despite some reviews works very well. I have cought a number of 30-100lb tarpon and sharks and nothing has broke. Maybe I got lucky, but I really love this live bait rod!
