Rated 5 out of 5 by SIMPLE THE BEST!!! I FOUND ONE OF THIS ROD DIVING AND FOR 2 YEARS IT KEEP WORKING LIKE NEW! IF BEEN UNDER WATER FOR A LONG TIME DON'T CHANGE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ROD I CAN TRUST FOR REGULAR AND EXTREME ABUSED! April 29, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding light weight deep sea rod This is an outstanding, lighter weight stand-up rod. I strongly recommend this rod for younger fishermen as well as those who enjoy fighting the fish. I use this rod for Trigger, King Mackerel and bottom fishing in depths up to 220 feet. If you are interested in the actually fight and just just hauling meat off of the bottom, then this rod is for you. August 18, 2008

A:
Primary use is trolling and bottom fishing which do not involve casting. Because of the short length and roller guides it would be very difficult to cast very far and the bait would have to be somewhat heavy, several ounces at least. So while it is possible to cast it is not the purpose of the rod.

5'6" or 6' rod?

Details:
What would be the difference besides the obvious 6 inches? I'm looking for a great rod for dorado and hopefully marlin for a trip I'm taking down to Baja. Going with the 50-80 lb.

Advice on which one to go with would be greatly appreciated.

The 5'6" will give you more leverage on a deep running, hard fighting fish. The lifting power of my 5'6" rods are incredible. However depending on the boat you are in you may want the 6' for clearance reasons.

I believe it's the number of bearings in each model. I could be wrong, but I think that's correct.
