Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Value I'm stationed on Ascension Island in the south atlantic and the fishing here is fantastic. I purchased the 5'6" 80 pound line class and it is by far one of the best values along with the quality you will find. We are consitantly landing 300 lb. tuna and 70 lb. wahoo, many of my friends here are using the same rod and we always recommend this rod to anyone who asks. I also own Penn and Kona stand up rods that quadruple the price of this rod but for this price the quality is unbelievable. June 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Offshore Angler™ Ocean Master® Stand-Up Rods Best rods I have. Made well, quality workmanship stands out. I love the triangular forehand handle. I need 4 more. I only have 8. May 22, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tough as nails! I have the 5'6" 50-80 pound rod, it is paired with a Penn squall size 60 reel with 80 pound braid line. It it great for trolling, but I use it every chance I get even going to the pier. I have the graphite reel seat, so it is not heavy at all, can even cast good with about 6oz or more weight. Have caught stripers and several black tip sharks with it, biggest fish so far only about 41 pounds so it really has not been put to any good testing yet. If you want to buy a good stand-up rod that is tough and cheap you can't go wrong with it. May 17, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Rods I have 4 of the 5'-6" 30-80 line class rods with Shimano Tyrnos 30 reels. These rods are well built with Aftco alum reel seats and rollers. The triangular foregrip is very comfortable when working a heavy fish. rod blanks are solid and offer tremendous lifting power for this class of rod. Great for trolling with the roller tips. A:
Per the manufacturer, OMSU-3B has a blank action of “Heavy” and OMSU-4B has a blank action of “Extra Heavy” and is designed for heavier line weight. Other than that, they both have the same components and length. The only difference is in the blank.

A:
Primary use is trolling and bottom fishing which do not involve casting. Because of the short length and roller guides it would be very difficult to cast very far and the bait would have to be somewhat heavy, several ounces at least. So while it is possible to cast it is not the purpose of the rod.

5'6" or 6' rod?

Details:
What would be the difference besides the obvious 6 inches? I'm looking for a great rod for dorado and hopefully marlin for a trip I'm taking down to Baja. Going with the 50-80 lb.

Advice on which one to go with would be greatly appreciated.

The 5'6" will give you more leverage on a deep running, hard fighting fish. The lifting power of my 5'6" rods are incredible. However depending on the boat you are in you may want the 6' for clearance reasons.

I believe it's the number of bearings in each model. I could be wrong, but I think that's correct.
