I bought the med action rod for my son...sorry, I'm keeping it. It is well built, looks and feels great. I will be using it to cast swimbaits to stripers and jig for Ling Cod. Has a nice action, plenty of backbone and is light weight. Great price. Just what he wanted (hehehe). I guess I will have to buy another one for him.

Bought the mid-weight version for slinging large prop baits in the Amazon for peacocks. As anyone that has fished for these beasts will tell you, pound-for-pound they are one of the toughest fish out there. They will test and find the weakest link in your tackle quickly. My Ocean Master rod has passed with flying colors on two trips and will be going with me on a third in the next couple months.

I have the heavy-weight version of this rod. I have been using it for the past year and have had it in some very tough situations with very big (20#+) lingcod and salmon. I like to pull big plugs on 30# braid from the kayak for salmon, and even with a 6" kwikfish, the thump and wiggle is only enough to notice, but the sensitivity is tremendous, so even test bites can be seen before the takedown. when jigging or dropping swimbaits for big ling and halibut I use up to 8oz often and even with that much weight, the rod only has a sustained bend of less than 3 inches at the tip!!
This super light, super strong rod pairs perfectly with a little Abu Ambassador (remember, on a kayak the massive drag is not needed because, unless anchored, the yak is a very effective drag and snubber on BIIIIIG fish) and 30# braid for unparalleled ocean, big water and super weedy kayak fishing excellence!
