  • Extra-heavy wax impregnation to guard against nicks and chafing
  • May be used as backing behind a mono top shot
  • Conforms to all IGFA line class requirements

Conforms to all IGFA line class requirements and has an extra-heavy wax impregnation to protect it from nicks and chafing. This protection also helps preserve the extended life of the line when used as backing behind a monofilament top shot, which is the preferred setup by many state-of-the-art big game operations worldwide. Whether you fish all Dacron or splice in mono, Magibraid is the finest Dacron available today.

Made in USA.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Strong line Used the 50 lb. test for winter cod fishing. Very strong line and no problems in below freezing temps. Only problem is when line got tangled in the props during a drift...line was so strong it almost ripped the pole out of my hands before I was able to release the spool and was forced to cut!!! Rated 5 out of 5 by The Old Superbraid! Spectra and Dynema superbraids have all but replaced Dacron in the braided line market on many a reel but not on mine. I find the increased diameter of Dacron over the newer generation braids makes it more manageable on a casting reel. This equates to less tangles and peels off better on a cast. It allows for greater spool capacity than mono because it compacts on the spool better and does not take a set like mono. Dacron's wet strength is excellent. An average strength new generation braid for surf casting is 50-65 lb test. Such high breaking strains are necessitated because anything less is of too small a diameter to be manageable. The newer lines put undo stress on the reel, rod and fisherman when a break-off is necessary and such high breaking strains are not needed for sport fishing purposes. Dacron is ocean friendly. It will eventually break apart, rot and decay if a chunk is lost on a break-off. Dynema and Spectra have a half life longer than this planet has been in existance! Dacron is very good for splicing new sections together and for creating top shots and wind on leader systems. Dacron has very minimal stretch for excellent sensitivity. It is a very good choice for trolling and or med depth jigging and bottom fishing. Wet Dacron casts smooth and long from a well tuned surf outfit. Dacron is the only line repairable with chap stick, dental floss and a sewing needle! Catch you on the next cast, S.Rods May 27, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Line I use th 80 and 130lb line for snagging in the Ozarks. I have used this line for 2yrs now and it has tremendous strength and great casting ability. I would recommend it to anyone seeking line that can litterally pull a tree out of the river. March 15, 2009

though I haven't had the experience of using this line in salt water ,I have used dacron braided line all my life for fresh water fishing. I have never had the color fade fromthe line before it was time to change the line. I have found this line best for rough water fish such as carp and catfish because of its less stretching ability when setting the hook on a large fish

A:
Bass Hunter,

I just logged on to BPS to order another spool of 20lb Dacron for surf fishing.

I use braided Dacron extensively for surf casting. Though it may be thicker than a new generation superbraid it is about the same diameter as monofiliment. You can fit more of it on a spool than mono though because it's braided configuration compacts better than mono.

It lays very well on a casting reels spool and peels off without the "stickiness" of a newer type braid.

It has less stretch than mono but just a little more than a newer braid.

It does not tangle, float, dig in or cut your fingers; all negative aspects of a dynema or spectra braid.

20lb is the smallest practical diameter of Dacron to work with so it is better suited to casting 2+oz or greater.

30-50lb mono will slip into 20 lb Dacron for an excellent, strong and smooth casting shock leader for trolling or casting. To learn how to "Top Shot" braided Dacron type in "wind on leaders" in your internet search engine and read the many tutorials.

Spray your spool of Dacron with a quality Silicone spray while it is dry to achieve maximum abrasion resistance, longevity and castability.

Catch you on the next cast,

S.Rods
