Offshore Angler Lazer Eye Saltwater Series - Magnum Z-Pop
Awesome lure if used correctly
I believe the key to this lure is how it is configured and presented. I removed the front hook and swapped the back hook out with a very sharp 3/0 heavy round bend. In this configuration I can make the lure pop, jump and skip and it drives the fish crazy. While surf fishing in Puerto Rico last year, I had Barracuda up to 3 ft, Tarpon up to 6 ft and many Jacks attack this lure. Also had a number of birds swoop down and try to hall it off. (Had to play keep-away then.) And back home in MN, Muskies eat them too. Fantastic lure!

More Crackle Than Pop
I bought 2 of these poppers primarily based on the reviews (4/5 stars).
However, I was a disappointed in the overall construction and appearance of the lures (an old charter-boat and diving companion of mine would have referred to them as being of "Mickey Mouse" quality), but the hooks were especially deficient. Tiny. Flimsy. Need I say more?
I bought these poppers originally to use offshore to entice and hook king mackerel, dolphin(fish), barracuda, and maybe an occasional blackfin tuna or two.
Instead, they will be relegated to the (much smaller) collection of tackle I use near-shore in marshes and creeks for puppy drum.
For a similar popper that is much better built and certain to be able to stand up to the more intense pressure of offshore fishing I would recommend the Stillwater Smack-It (SW001, 5", 1-1/4 oz).
I purchased 3 of those to fill the void left when I pulled the Magnum Z-Pop's out of my offshore tackles bags.

this lure is small, but pretty heavy, so you can give it the old "heave ho", and cast a mile. i replaced both hooks because they were small, and on the first (schoolie) striper they were crushed flat. i replaced them with one 4/0 treble in the rear of the bait, and it works great, caught me a few 25 pound stripers and decent sized blues.

Smack On !!
I brought one of these poppers to check out the quality and to judge how well they work in the water. On all fronts they get my tick of approval and I will certainly be buying more of these from BPS in the future.
