Rated 2 out of 5 More Crackle Than Pop
I bought 2 of these poppers primarily based on the reviews (4/5 stars).
However, I was a disappointed in the overall construction and appearance of the lures (an old charter-boat and diving companion of mine would have referred to them as being of "Mickey Mouse" quality), but the hooks were especially deficient. Tiny. Flimsy. Need I say more?
I bought these poppers originally to use offshore to entice and hook king mackerel, dolphin(fish), barracuda, and maybe an occasional blackfin tuna or two.
Instead, they will be relegated to the (much smaller) collection of tackle I use near-shore in marshes and creeks for puppy drum.
For a similar popper that is much better built and certain to be able to stand up to the more intense pressure of offshore fishing I would recommend the Stillwater Smack-It (SW001, 5", 1-1/4 oz).
I purchased 3 of those to fill the void left when I pulled the Magnum Z-Pop's out of my offshore tackles bags.

"Stubby" gets a lot of attention from trevallys. Hooks may be a little small. Casts well. Never had one break or malfunction in any way. Great lure for the money.

this lure is small, but pretty heavy, so you can give it the old "heave ho", and cast a mile. i replaced both hooks because they were small, and on the first (schoolie) striper they were crushed flat. i replaced them with one 4/0 treble in the rear of the bait, and it works great, caught me a few 25 pound stripers and decent sized blues.

Not sure what the exact size is, but they're too small --and too flimsy-- for this lure, at least in my opinion.A:Â
not sure what size exactly, but they're about the size of the hooks you'd find on a large crankbait for largemouth.A:Â
I would say they are a #1 or 0 and I changed them to a #3/0 due to its size. liked the over all size for salt water fishing or large bass1 of 1
