Our Inshore Extreme Low-Profile Baitcast Reel is the reel that operates on the "extreme" end of the scale when it comes to inshore pursuits; the one that pushes strength and durability to the limit, yet offers the precision needed to present the most delicate bait to the most defined spot perfectly. We built our Inshore Extreme Low-Profile Reel beefy--really beefy--to give you the confidence to target big fish without resorting to oversized tackle. The internal gearing is over the top; both the pinion gear and the crank shaft are solid brass, for power you can rely on in the heat of battle. We used high-strength aluminum for the rigid 1-piece frame and sidecovers; both the power handle and drag star are forged aluminum; and the extra-deep wide spool is fully machined-aluminum as well, for casting performance you won't find in any other inshore reel. The 6-bearing system includes double-shielded, stainless steel bearings that won't yield to corrosion, plus PowerLock instant anti-reverse. Externally adjustable Radial Tuned Braking uses both magnetic and centrifugal systems to feather your cast perfectly. With its nick-proof titanium nitrided line guide and overbuilt 6-disc drag that delivers up to 16.5 lbs. of drag power, the Inshore Extreme is the reel of choice for the trophy seeker!
Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Real Reel I have one of these an older model from a few years ago. It is a great reel to have for any type fishing, rather salt water or fresh water fishing. I love it and it does fine. Great for bass fishing, as well as any other. Very stout and very touch, under any conditions. The aluminum frame with 6 ball bearings, makes it worth every dime, you spend on it. Well worth the money, Bass Pro Shops does it again, you guys rock. April 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Reel this is a great reel for the price. the reel casts very easy and is easy to use April 4, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 GOOD ENOUGH GOOD DRAG, HOLDS LOTS OF LINE, CASTS FAR, NOT BACK LASH, GOOD CRANKS ON BIGGER FISH, WORKS FINE IN SALT WATER. PAINT ON REEL IS CHEAP AND SCRATCHED AFTER MY FIRST USE. OTHER THAN THAT ITS ALL GOOD. January 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Multi-use Baitcaster This reel is great for catching reds, specks, and jacks in saltwater applications. And it is also suitable for throwing heavier bass lures. Has proven itself very reliable the past few years. July 15, 2012

This would definitely be a good option for both. It has the power and line capacity for good saltwater performance, and it has enough finesse to throw freshwater baits. If you are looking to throw really light baits, I recommend going to something else.

This reel is the family of the Nitro reel whcih is now being displayed in the freshwater section. There will be no problem using this reel in both saltwater and freshwater fishing.

no, this is similar to a bass fishing, lure retrieving reel. Not necessarily for bait fishing.

A:
I put on 20# fireline and it works fine. I originally had 14# fireline and although it helped cast farther, the thin diameter of this flat line dug into the spool easily causing backlashes.

I may try the new fireline braid which is supposedly rounder and less prone to digging in.

7ft.6in. HV.FLIPPIN STICK. for nasty up close work, and 7ft. HV.to cast swimbaits. You can use any rod you want as far as that goes. But to play with MR.BIG.you need a power pole. Why have 16 and one half pounds of drag and not use it?
