I can say ,this reel should give you a added edge on MR.STRIPER and all his other BIG BUDDYS.And not give a case of tunnelcarple in a days fishing.I plan to cast while fishing, and that is why I picked this model. At 9.7oz. with that deep spool full of of heavy line, and 161/2 lb.s of brakes. You can give most (Bass) a lesson in wakeboarding. This is a well made reel for the money. It has a very good crank handle. And the finsh over all. Is very good.Casting ? I can tell you this. All and I mean ALL the baitcasters I have had. , In some 46yr.s of casting I can make a mess of.Anyone that tells you they don"t is full of it.This reel does just fine casting.

I recently purchased this reel at the hampton va location and am extremely pleased so far. It is the smoothest reel that i have and its power is off the charts. It is perfect for fishing for anything from specks to 50 lb stripers. The adjustable brakes and clutch allow the fisherman to easily fine-tune for the perfect cast and to minimize backlashes. This reel matches up perfectly with the brand new st croix mojo inshore, which is now available at all bass pro locations. I am looking forward to many years of intense battles with giant reds in my home waters of the chesapeake bay.

I have been using this reel frequently since the day after Christmas. I have caught many black drum, a few redfish, and a large bluefish that measured 32". This reel casts fairly well except when casting directly into the wind. In that case i had some difficulty with backlash. The drag on this reel is superb. It is ridiculously strong, while still being quite smooth. This reel feel pretty good in my hand, although i have somewhat larger than average hands. Its not too heavy for being a saltwater reel. The durability of this reel is just average though. This reel seems to get a relative amount of water seep through between the spool and the frame. Also, if any dirt or sediment gets between the spool and frame, it will feel like its falling apart. Other than that, i am very pleased with my purchase and it looks sick on my Skeet Reese rod.

This reel was made for power i have pulled out numerous amount of snook and red fish. The finish is a little shabby but the performance is what matters. The abuse will be seen only on the outside but the performance will show none. For its price its worth every penny. Apparently this reel not only attracted me but some thieves. I'm planning to buy this reel again very soon.

I live in new jersey by the shore and i do freshwater and saltwater fishing. So im trying to find a alround rod and reel I can use.Answers

This would definitely be a good option for both. It has the power and line capacity for good saltwater performance, and it has enough finesse to throw freshwater baits. If you are looking to throw really light baits, I recommend going to something else.Answers

no, this is similar to a bass fishing, lure retrieving reel. Not necessarily for bait fishing.Answers

I put on 20# fireline and it works fine. I originally had 14# fireline and although it helped cast farther, the thin diameter of this flat line dug into the spool easily causing backlashes.I may try the new fireline braid which is supposedly rounder and less prone to digging in.

7ft.6in. HV.FLIPPIN STICK. for nasty up close work, and 7ft. HV.to cast swimbaits. You can use any rod you want as far as that goes. But to play with MR.BIG.you need a power pole. Why have 16 and one half pounds of drag and not use it?1 of 1
