Offshore Angler™ Gold Cup® GCL-30 Levelwind Reel
Gold Cup GCL-30
I bought this reel for flathead catfishing. My other rods have Penn 209 and 309 reels. The Gold Cup only costs $10 more than a Penn 309 and has a far stronger drag. The 309's is rated at 15 pounds; the GCL-30's is rated at 20 pounds. I mated it to an Offshore Angler Ocean Master stand up rod. I love this combo. You could winch up a Buick with it!!

I couldn't believe the size of this reel when I opened the box. It looks and feels great. I'm going to pair it with a Shakespeare Tiger Lite Jigging rod 50 -100 lb line limit and spool it with Power Pro 65lb braided line. Cant wait to try it out

This reel is the bomb I bought it with the combo because I needed a large fishing combo for stingrays. If anyone has ever battled stingrays between 60 and 120 pounds they know how ferocious they are on the line. This reel held up great. I loved it. I could cast far with it. Drag was tight. Nice torque. Can handle big fish. Way worth the price. Plus with the bait clicker it made still baitfishing for rays a cake walk

This reel has so many features for the price. It actually has a cast control knob - of course, I won't be doing too much casting with this. I took it fishing for California scorpion fish last week, and the reel performed wonderfully. The retrieve was smooth and effortless. I was using a 12 oz. torpedo in 250 to 300 ft. of ocean, and no problems! Of course, the price is right on this one.
