Took one of these when I fished the East Cape last year out of Hotel Palmas de Cortez in Baja. Actually gave the capt of our boat the gaff as a gift. We used it quite a lot for gaffing tuna and dorado. Very sharp gaff, and the grip on the handle worked great with or without gloves on. Not much good on a huge party boat cuz of its length, but for a panga or cruiser, it works great once your fish is alongside the boat. Lightweight but strong. No one used the wrist rope; the nylon didn't look strong enough anyway. I'm gonna tie a longer para cord to this one with a small float, just in case it goes overboard. I think this one is better for gaffing from a yak, rather than the smaller one that is only a 3/4" dia tube. This 24" model is a one inch tube and feels "hefty" even if it's aluminum. Outstanding for the price.

The gaff appears well constructed, is nice and light and the point is certainly very sharp. After my trip, I left it with a local fisherman and he was very pleased to receive it. I will certainly purchase this product for my next trip.
