fresh water tn. catfishing the sabikis are a great way to catch baitfish especially when you tip the hooks with bits of worms to catch bluegill for catfish. shad will also go crazy for this with or without the added tipped worm bits. great job! i love this thing. November 23, 2010
Sabiki Rigs If you're into saltwater fishing, you know the value of having live or fresh cut bait. These things are FANTASTIC for catching baitfish, and I keep a lightweight spinning rod rigged with one, with a 1-ounce sinker at the end, so I can catch more as needed. Keep some small cork pieces handy to tip the hooks with when not using because they tangle REALLY easily, but they're cheap enough that when you're done, you can just cut it up and throw it away...in a trash can please, not in the water!!! Great This is a typical Sabiki Rig however the skirt on it is the best I have used. It is durable and looks great in the water. We were using squid and some grums trying to catch surf perch and were not having any luck then I switched to this Sabiki and went home with 32 perch amazing day all of them over 12" we were in the right place at the right time but this is defiantly a rig to always have in your tackle box March 24, 2010
Catch your own Bait Travel to Loreto twice a year, you can buy 15 Mackeral for $ 20 USD just outside of the Marina, or you can take 15 min. and catch your own with the Sabiki Rigs ( think they should be called " Bait Jigs " Besides saving your money, it is a lot of fun catching th Mackeral June 7, 2011

A:
The larger number size is the larger hook the first few packs I ordered I bought the size 6 ans I expected them be like a normal size 6 hook and they were super tiny. I ordered more in the size 10 or 12 (can't remember and they were much bigger and more useful. I use them to catch skipjack herring

Hook size

Details:
I purchased some offshore angler sabiki rigs and the #8 hooks are bigger than the #6 hooks. If they are american hooks then the #6 should be bigger then the #8. I want to purchase bigger hooks so I need to now if I need #10 or #4 hooks. Not sure if they are american or japan hooks. Thanks Brian

A:
The larger the number size for the hook the bigger the hook. I order some size 6 thinking they would be a standard size 6 hook and they were really small. I then order the 3rd largest number up (10 or 12 I believe) and they were perfect. Also they have heavier leader line and branch line. These are great for catching skipjack herring

A:
It shouldn't matter whether they are American or Japanese. The go by the same scale. The #4 hook should be bigger and the #10 should be smaller I use the #6 and #8 for skipjack and they run tru for the ones I have purchased.

Had the same problem. Never figured it out other than paying attention to the test of the rig. When I bought rigs on 12-17lb the hooks were good size.
Used for catching herring 10-13" for stripers!
