dissapointing Cup is quite shallow, even with gilbal pin removed. Wish I had purchased one of the more triangular shaped designs. This belt tends to slid far too easily side to side on your waist with fish movement or when repositioning your legs during a fight. Moving either leg forward of the other pulls the side of the lower pad away from your body causing it to slip. I Spent most of a 10 minute battle against a 40# Amberjack in 150' of water fighting the belt to keep it in front of me. Belt is HUGE with insufficient take up. If you a less than a 40" waist, you'll be forced to modify the strap for a proper fit. Seems well constructed with good padding however. Without having tried one, I would still suggest people consider one of the more triangular designs that you would appear to ride more stably nestled between your legs rather then riding across them. I think it should fit. I use it with a Penn International stand up. Fits great. Also you can always remove the gimbal pin.

I would not recommend any fighting belt for a surf rod due the length of the rod below the reel. You could get the bottom of the rod in the belt but the reel would probably be over your head and not reachable for reeling. Surf rods are made to wedge between your legs during the fight or against your foot. A fighting belt really isn't neccessary. Your surf rod would need to have a gimbal butt anyway for this fighting belt to be used effectively.
