Rated 5 out of 5 by great product i bought this combo for trolling and deep dropping the first time i used this combo i thought it was perfect, the first hour or so we caught at least 2 wahoo ,and some nice gag groupers this combo is great for the price i would recommend this to anyone who needs a dependable combo September 9, 2010

The reel is rated for 30 lb line. Based on what you are fishing we would recommend line weight of 50+, you may still attempt to use this reel, however, you will get less yards on the spool and we cannot guarntee it to hold up against such a large fish.

from my perspective you would be better off getting a special senator because of the price and the durability but i used this reel and it is not as bad as it seems it is a good start off reel but if you are looking for a heavy duty compact reel go with the penn special senator
