I have used these over the top of ballyhoo for striped marlin and they work well in this application. If you use it as a tuna lure it would be best to add a 2 oz. egg sinker behind the lure and re-rig with 80 lb. florocarbon as leader. For marlin with a ballyhoo combo I troll this at around 7 - 7.5 knots. For albacore and yellowfin anywhere from 6.5 - 7.2 knots.

The simple answer is 6-10 mph, but your best bet is to run the bait right next to the boat and see what speed you’re going when you like the action of the bait. Also, there’s the issue of running ‘with’ the wind/current and ‘against’, both of which will affect the actual drag put on the bait.1 of 1
