Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst rest ever made! Just like the title states, this is without a doubt the worst arrow rest ever manufactured. The brushes wear very quickly, in fact I had to replace the bottom brush after two, one hour trips to the range. I contacted the maker of this rest and they told me that my bow was not tuned properly which is why I was experiencing abnormal wear. This was NOT the case. To be on the safe side, I took the bow to a friend and archery shop owner who went over the bow. My center shot was correct as well as arrow level. He watched me shoot and there was no torque anywhere to be seen. It was all the rest. I went back to my Whisker Biscuit. This rest is a cheap attempt at a Whisker Biscuit by a different company and it clearly shows. No more of these rests for me! May 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by hostage replacemet brushes i've had the rest for a while now and it's a really good rest! I bought the replacement brushes from Bass Pro and it was good shipping and came in a good package! have them on my rest now and there lasting longer than the ones that came with the bow! thank you bass pro! Rated 4 out of 5 by Replacement Brushes Work Nice purchase, much better than having to shell out for whole new rest. Also with replacing worn brushes your accuracy improves dramatically. February 19, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Hostage Rest I used this rest cause it came on my bow. I really don't like it. My arrow has slid off a couple of times and I'm just not comfortable with this rest. Whisker Biscuit here I come. November 24, 2012

Move the whole rest in the direction of the wearing brush, or try paper tuning and you should find that they do the same thing

If only the right bristles are wearing out, that usually means you are tilting your bow to the right as you shoot. I suggest you get a level for the sights, to make sure the bow is vertical before you shoot.

A:
The archery professional at Bass Pro Shops showed me how to place the arrows when I purchased it. The Fletchings fly inbetween the bristles. If they don't line up, adjust your nock on the arrow.

Other than an very noticeable defect, which is probably not the case. It sound like to me that the windage needs to be adjusted on it. The brushes should be even on all three sides. Hope this helps.

NO ADJUSTMENT

Details:
I BAUGHT THE HOSTAGE ARROW REST AND THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT TO MAKE IT HOLD MY ARROWS IN PLACE. IT SAID ON ANOTHER WEB SITE THAT THEY ARE NOT COMPATABLE WITH EASTON AXIS ARROWS . COULD YOU ENLIGHTEN ME ON THIS. MY WIFE SHOOTS CARBON ARROWS AND THEY ARE EVEN NARROWER THAN MY ALLUMINIUM EASTONS.
THANK YOU

A:
The Octane rest is not a great rest the concept is nice but the bristles melt quick and as you stated it doesn't fit smaller arrows well. Try a drop away arrow rest and I guarentee you will not be dissatisfied! I have the Qaulity Archers Designs HD Pro Ultra I bought it after using the Octane pro and I wish i would have all together skipped the Octane. I also shoot the smaller diameter axis arrows and it works great for me.

Hope that helps?

See review by JameyG. The use of the brass washers makes the brushes contact the arrow, holding it firmly and seems to help accuracy.

You should not be able to see any space between the brushes and your arrow shaft. However, you have to be very careful about how tight it is because if the brushes are too tight then they will were out quickly. The best thing to do is square your rest with the arrow only resting on the bottom brush then tighten the top two brushes down until you no longer see any gap between the brushes and the arrow.

There are three brushes in a replacement pack. Be sure you order replacement brushes for the "Hostage" rest and NOT the "Hostage Pro" rest (unless, of course, you do have a "Hostage Pro" rest).

I usually keep at least one replacement set (3), If I can I'll keep two. But I always try to keep extra parts, tools and gear for my main equioment.
