Rated 5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by FishWhisperer23 Best Hand Down There is no better kayak for fishing…period. I have been kayak fishing for many years and I can tell you a paddle kayak gives you maybe 40% fish time, a peddle kayak gives you maybe 70% fish time and the Torque gives you 90% + fish time. The Torque is quieter than a paddle yak and runs straighter and smoother than a peddle yak. The Torque is designed so fish friendly that there is very few upgrades needed to make it perfect. Amazing to me is I spent less for my Torque than I did for my peddle kayak. The Minn Kota motor is super quiet, fast and efficient. Numerous times I have fished all day and still had battery enough to tow one or two of my kayak fishing buddies back to the take-out. The balance and engineering of the Torque makes it the perfect fishing machine. January 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Toadstepper Opened up a new world of fishing for me Even without the motor, this kayak is a great and comfortable kayak. Add the ability to troll hands-free or quickly get to your favorite fishing spot and this kayak is a game changer. I fish tidal creeks for redfish in south carolina. It is a perfect place for a kayak and there are endless places to find fish. With this kayak, I am able to explore further than I could ever have imagined. Even better, I'm able to focus on the fishing because I trust the quality of this kayak. I have taken this kayak out all day on the cheapest marine battery I could find. When I got home after seven hours with plenty of running full speed against a tidal current, I had a two thirds charge left. My last trip out, I covered over five miles distance on my gps (half of which was against an outgoing tide) and the kayak was still going just as strong as when I launched. I enter this kayak off the side of a dock and have never had a problem getting in because of the great stability of this kayak. It has great storage up front and the skupper fitted for a transducer is great. I attached a fishfinder and have fished in 12" of water. The ability to move hands free in this kayak keeps me more alert to water conditions and allows me to focus in on fish. Plus, as I'm moving to my next fishing spot my hands are free to re-tie line, adjust my tackle, sharpen hooks, or just enjoy the scenery. I'm also more alert to boats cruising by that could be a hazard. I highly recommend this boat to anyone looking for a tool to help them catch fish. You will not be disappointed. January 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 Torque Ocean Kayak My kayak arrived on time and as advertised. No hassle at all and the website was easy to use. Thank You Bass Pro Shops! The "Torque" kayak is great and the answer to my problems with other fishing kayaks that I tried to retrofit with trolling motors. They were hard to manage and navigate while fishing. August 9, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by ThePondHopper Great fishing kayak I've used mine several times now. It is super stable and very manueverable. I've fished out of many kayaks in the past, but this is the best set up I've seen and used so far. It is the best for total hands free fishing. I fish a lot of weeds and structure for largemouth bass and really like the hands free TM. It has plenty of power, never wishing I had more. If your looking for a fishing kayak, take a close look at the torque, so far it's one of my favorites November 4, 2010

What is the minimum draft for this Kayak with the Minn Kota trolling motor installed? Can the trolling motor be removed on the fly for shallows areas?

A:
If you leave the Rudder loose (not locked in), you can fish water less than 18" deep.

You must step out of the kayak to remove the motor, but I have never experienced a need to do that.

I've fished this kayak in about a foot of water. I have taken the trolling motor out on the fly when it got wrapped in someone else's fishing line. I keep the skeg in the dry storage just in case.

Is there any way to get a more powerful motor or customize this one to something like a 50lb thrust or more?

Details:
Although I hear that this motor is good I am going to use this kayak in the open ocean in Jamaica and the sea can get rough at times...the extra power could come in handy at any given moment.

I doubt that you can beef the motor up, but I can not believe it will be necessary because I have been in situations where waters were so rough that I had water splashing over my head and had no need for concerns.

A:
I couldn't imagine needing a more powerful motor for this kayak. I went out with a friend in another kayak and towed him out to a fishing spot and we were both shocked that we couldn't even tell that the motor was pulling another boat.

That being said, to my knowledge you cannot get another motor or customize a motor more powerful to fit this kayak.

Any state that requires boats with electric trolling motors will also require tags for the Torque. Trut me it is worth every penny.

A:
Check with your state's DNR for details. Chances are that since the boat has a motor it will require a registration. I know in SC, I had to get it registered.

I think so but it depends on your skill level. I definitely wouldn't recommend moving with the motor while standing. Also, be sure you have practice water reentry before going out in the open water.

Flush Mounted Rod Holders?

Details:
I noticed the yellow/tan model's picures show no flush rod holders but the camo version does. Right now only the $2000.00 model is available, does it include the rod holders? Does the $1700 model?

I bought the $2K model and it came with the rod holders. I'd call to be sure. You need those rod holders for fishing!

The Optima blue to is a great battery for the Torque. I can fish three to for days without needing to charge it. I have had mine for over two years and it is still going strong. Can't remember what I paid for it.

A battery store will be able to help you decide on the best battery. IMHO, I go for a cheap marine battery. I know it will only last a year or two but on a cost/year basis it is cheaper and I've taken my kayak out all day and still had a 2/3 charge on the battery. The furthest distance I traveled was five miles in this kayak with half going against the tide. I got back with the motor running just as strong as when I left.

I suggest you consider using a lumber rack designed for your tow hitch. You can buy one at a kayak shop for around $160.00 or from Harbor Freight for $70.00. With a $3.00 pool Styrofoam float and three zip ties you have a great kayak carrier for one or two kayaks. Can be used with all pickups and hatchback vehicles.

I bought a small boat trailer for a 12-14 foot john boat that works fine. I'd definitely recommend a trailer if you are going to take it out often since it is quite heavy and was a challenge for me to get on top of my jeep. I've seen on CL some trailers that people have built for kayaks for as little as $125. There are also some DIY plans on the internet for getting around your neighborhood.

Fished for 12+ hours trolling and bank fishing. Only used less than half charge...but I use a 53lb top of the line die hard AGM batt. Cheaper quality batts will net less power...seacow

TM battery life depends on a lot of variable, EI: wind speed, current, weight, power usage..are you running on high often? if so this will reduce battery life.

A general rule, purchase a high quality AGM battery and use your motor at low or med speed, and you shouldn't have a problem running 5 or 6 hrs.
