You can get a great day on the water out of this kayak but you need to know your uses first. Can you fish from it? Yes, its stable enough but there are no rod holders. Do you need seat backs? Only if you want to walk upright again in your lifetime. Yes, seat backs help keep you comfy and energized. Will you get wet? Yes. You will get wet so plan accordingly. In summer temps it doesn't matter and might even feel good. If you deal with cold water, get a wet suit. You'll appreciate it. After saltwater use, always give a rinse with the hose. Keep it out of the sun when you store it and it will last for many many years.

I had used canoes for years. I was never interested in kayaks. Well that has changed. I had the opportunity to use an Ocean Kayak Malibu in the Florida Keys for several days. All I can say is FANTASTIC! They are extremely stable. The hull cut through the strong Gulf currents. It also was a blast in the Atlantic waves. We used them solo, tandem and even with three (one small) on board. Don't sell these short. Try one you will be shocked!!

I purchsed the malibu 2 about 3 yrs ago.I would highly. recommend that you get the seats. Or you can get canoe seats and make them work. For me, It makes kayaking more comfortable and easier.PFS are also needed. If you want to fish , you can get a rod holder also. Always have a frozen bottle of water with you. I1or each person, a whiste( without a pea),hope that this helps.1 of 1
