Designed with a lifelike minnow head and features a "thumper" blade that flickers, flashes, and flutters to fool fish. Rig with soft plastic trailers or live bait. Deadly for crappie, perch, walleye, bass, and trout!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Thumper Jigs I have caught a lot of walleye and some perch with this 1/8 and 1/4 ounce jig. I do best with a yellow and red grub from a Johnson Beetle Spin that has not got much tail action. I only use the Watermelon color jig since it is the only one that will glow in these darker waters where i fish. A tiny Gulp worm will also help by giving the lure a little more flavor. A live worm works a little better but will also attach more Cat Fish. The Northland Thumper Jig is a quality product. The paint will chip but that is to be expected since I bounce it off of rocks. The hook is somewhat more flexible than most. Northland designed this jig with a more flexible hook so that it will bend and release when it gets snagged into a stump or limb. This red hook seems to catch more fish than a similar jig will with a plain hook. The small blade on this jig seems to be just enough to do a better job. I catch fish with this when no one else on the lake is. June 27, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great little jig This little jig ended up being our go to jig on a recent trip to Canada. We landed a lot of fish on this jig including both walleye and northern pike by tipping it with a live minnow. The only thing that I would like to see is a slightly stronger hook as the pike that we hooked were consistenly bending the hook and we lost a couple of them as a result of this. Other than that I was very impressed with this jig. It performed very well and caught lots of fish. August 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent River Jig I have used this jig in several river systems with varying current speeds and water depth. I snip off the blade and pair it with the old style powerbait minnow smelt colour or the gulp alive smelt colour 3 inch length. I snip back the minnow head of the tail that I am using so the jig head meets flush to the tail. This ensures the bait runs true especially in heavy current. I have had huge success with this bait with huge numbers caught of up to 110 walleye in 7 hours fishing with up to 10lb fish. The reasoning for the blade snipped is in current it causing the minnow to flutter side to side and throw the boyancy off as well as maintaining the natural look of the smelt/minnow appearance. I use the berkley Nanofil line 8lb with a 3 foot seaguar flourocarbon 10lb leader. This helps with greater sensitivity for those light biters. Bottom contact is a must so be sure to match the right jig head weight with the current speed. Overall best jig head I have ever used. May 24, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Walleye jig Caught a lot of Walleye with this jig while others were catching nothing. I also bought some for a gift for my brother. July 14, 2011
