Rated 5 out of 5Â by jsmallmouthman Great for fly fishing
I use these when I go fly fishing wading in the river for smallmouth all the time. These are the single best way to make changing flies a snap! I have tried many other fast changing methods but nothing seems to compare to these, they are so easy and don't affect the action of my fly at all even when I am using very small flies. I have caught large fish(2-3 lb, about as big as they get in the section of the huron that I fish) and they have never failed to hold up. It saves me tons of tippet because I don't have to cut it off and tie a new knot every time I want to change flies.

I have used these for years, and now they are so hard to find. If you use jigs you know how much time you spend getting them to hang straight and changing them out. These make it to easy to swap them out and hang correctly. Give them a try and you willbe HOOKED.

Found out about these in an article by Elite angler Aaron Marten. These are very cool. I use the XL's for 1/2 oz. and above cranks, jerkbait, etc. and the LG, for smaller appications. These have made my fishing life easier and faster.

I know if you read some blogs and forums a lot of people disregard these connectors, however I think they have their place. When using nymphs or streamers I really like these for their ease of changing flies. That being said, I know the manufacturer says that the small size floats but I personally wouldn't use them for dry fly fishing.

what size do you use for freshwater lures and what size for saltwater lures?Answers

A:Â
lg and xl for freshwater, have both and would not use anything smaller than lg for bass fishing. smaller may be ok for flyfishing. XL only for saltwater, that may even be too small though. These aren't very big.A:Â
I use Large for freshwater. I don't salt water fish much. I tie them to 14 lb. flourocarbon leaders, app. 18"-24" long. Hint; Spread them open a little to attach to lures easier, then lightly pinch them closed enough to keep lure on.Answers

How small is the smallest size? What's the smallest size trout fly you could fit on the small "fast snap?"

A:Â
The smallest Fas-Snap is about 1/8" long. a 1/32 oz jig hook fits easily on it.You should be able to get a #10 or a #12 fly onto the small Fas-Snap.

The smallest size will fit in a crappie jig eye.A:Â
Very small, I use it for dry flys and rubber bugsA:Â
you use this for putting your leader to your fly line.A:Â
if you ask me the small is very little and hard to hold while trying to slip the fly onTop 100 Contributor

I would not do it for trout and trout flies. I would use for bass or saltwater species not too sensitive to additional hardware.Depending on what time of year, especially later in the summer when the flies are getting smaller this is a non starter for trout. Thats why I use flouro leader, 7x tippets, etc depending on how big the fish are where I am fishing. Trout with any pressure are too smart for this.
