The small size is good for flies size 16-14-12. Size 18 is as big as the snap. Haven't tried them with a dry fly yet.

I got the small size and it is extremely difficult to get flies off, actually takes more time than using a clinch knot.

Keeps the jigs fishing at the right angle, no constant re-adjusting. Need hemostats for threading. Makes changing jigs easy. Expensive, oh my yes. Be careful about getting the small size, only the lightest weight lines will fit.

I purchased the snap one size two small so I am having difficulty fitting them over the eyelets of my lures.
Otherwise they seam ok.
I'll get the right size next time.

lg and xl for freshwater, have both and would not use anything smaller than lg for bass fishing. smaller may be ok for flyfishing. XL only for saltwater, that may even be too small though. These aren't very big.

I use Large for freshwater. I don't salt water fish much. I tie them to 14 lb. flourocarbon leaders, app. 18"-24" long. Hint; Spread them open a little to attach to lures easier, then lightly pinch them closed enough to keep lure on.Answers

The smallest Fas-Snap is about 1/8" long. a 1/32 oz jig hook fits easily on it.You should be able to get a #10 or a #12 fly onto the small Fas-Snap.

I would not do it for trout and trout flies. I would use for bass or saltwater species not too sensitive to additional hardware.Depending on what time of year, especially later in the summer when the flies are getting smaller this is a non starter for trout. Thats why I use flouro leader, 7x tippets, etc depending on how big the fish are where I am fishing. Trout with any pressure are too smart for this.
