Nikon ProStaff 5 Rifle Scope
I always wanted to try a nikon scope. I finally got the chance and mounted this scope in a 2.5 x10 on a Remington 788 in 22-250. Recoil is not an issue so I cant really say weather this scope holds up to heavy recoil from large caliber rifles. This is a nice scope. Its clear, nice positive clicks on the turrets, weight is ok, eye relief is good, clarity is really good and the power ring is easy to adjust but firm. I had no problems dialing this scope in either. it is also a nice looking scope. The reason I didnt give it 4 stars is because of the field of view. i have leupolds, redfield and burris (the old American Made versions) and Bushnells in the same price range and the field of view is not nearly as large with this Nikon. I even have a BSA Huntsman 3 x 9 I got on sale for $25 to put on a marlin .22 and it has a much larger field of view. Thats my only knock. If that is not much of an issue for you then its a good scope to consider.

Best Bang for your Buck
When I went shopping for a scope for my lil .22 mag, an older guy behind the counter said that's to much scope for that little pea shooter. At the time all I could come up with was "can't hit 'em if ya can't see 'em". Well that statement, was and is, a lot of truth to it, cause my first Prostaff the 3x9x50(W/O BDC) allows me to shoot my lil .22 all the way till dark, if the need arises. My second Prostaff 4.5x14x40(with BDC) compliments a WBY 300mag and using it for the first deer season no bucks presented themselves to me so took a doe's head off at 130 yds. While this is not a remarkable story what happened while I was walking into my home without zipping up my gun case is, because of Murphy's Law or whatever, my gun slipped out and fell from waist high to right on scope, after some choice words and an inspection of lens and housing saw the only apparent damage was one of my protective caps was scraped. My real fear came at the range, and once I found where my rounds were going, only 4 shots and back on bullseye. In my opinion Nikon Prostaff scopes are the best and most durable rifle scopes for the money(even beats more expensive scopes).

Good Hunting Scope
I have the 3-9X scope and it's excellent for 100 to 300 yards. Anything over that range and you will want something with a higher magnification. It seems like the perfect hunting scope as I can't see myself shooting anything over 300 yards anyway. The BDC (bullet drop compensation) is an excellent feature of this scope, it allows you to switch from a 100 yards target to a 300 yard target quickly and effortlessly.
The scope is crystal clear and has not fogged up on me yet. For the price I would definitely recommend this scope.

The best optic I have ever used, Retired Marine Rifleman
This is clearer and sharper than any other scope I have used, seen, tested and owned in 40 years. The magnification is best at full zoom, then zoom out for range distance and shoot. Does not get fog build up at 04:00 or in the rain. Love it and comes with a lifetime warranty.
