Nikon claims a maximum range of 550 yards but depending on what you focus on I have ranged out to 700 yards.

I've used this rangefinder on several hunting trips and so far its been spot on. Even in low light situations its been great. For the quality you cant beat the price.

Does this range finder calculate the angle when in a tree stand like other range finders that are made specifically for archery?

This would be good for Archery. However, no, the Nikon ProStaff 3 Rangefinder does not have the Nikon ID Technology like the Archer’s Choice (38-404-326-00), the RifleHunter 1000 (38-404-327-00), or the 550 (38-872-210-00).http://www.nikonhunting.com/search/...
