Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Scope - Makes an Average Shooter Good!!! I purchased this scope in February for my new AR-15. I used Nikon mounts and the set up was a breeze to install. The clarity of this scope is incredible! Everything is sharp and bright. I slipped in my bore site laser and began siting it in. It adjusts easily and the 1/4 MOA per click knobs allows you to really dial the rifle in. Next, it was off to the range. After a few adjustments, the scope was spot on at 100 yards. Moved back to 200 yards and I was shooting nice 8" groups. Moved at to 400 yards and I was consistantly on target! Needless to say I am very happy with this scope and I doubt if you can get one better for twice the price. February 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Scope for my AR-15 Scope arrived on Saturday, went to Range on Sunday after church. initial shots was 11' high and to the right. the manual says the scope is 1/4MOA, however on the top Turrent it says 1/2MOA at 100 yards. so I clicked 22 times down and 4 clicks to the left. dead center. Bright clear glass, BDC easy to see not small like the Burris AR332. I like the turrents not too big like other review are stating. I recommend buying the Nikon spoton appt. The scope looks really nice on my Noveske Light Recce. The P series mounts are great, you do have two different size allen screws. It would be nice if Nikon made quick disconnect mounts. but I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too! February 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great scope, problem with the mount I just bought the scope, very well designed, crystal clear lens, great product. The problem I have, is not with the scope itself, but with the mount. The Nikon sort of a fancy mount for this scope, doesn't have a moving wedge, and cannot be fixed to a military spec picatinny rail. In my opinion, Nikon should redesign that mount as soon as possible, making it less fancy and more practical. January 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Compact and a tough little scope I just mounted this scope on both my DPMS 22 upper and my M4 match rifle. Its very compact and as always crystal clear optics. The upgraded turrets are clearly marked, have positive clicks, and easy to reset. I haven't had a chance to shoot out at longer ranges as of yet but Im very happy with the purchase. The new mount system is perfect when dealing with limited space on a rifle. November 16, 2012

A:
The Nikon P-223 AR Riflescope was designed to be used with 55-gr .223 Rem ammunition. While this scope would work on the Mossberg 715T .22LR, the 3-9x40 Prostaff Rimfire Riflescope was designed specifically with the 22 LR cartridge in mind and would be a better choice.

I would say not the best choice. For a similar price you can get the Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 22LR with adjustable power from 3x to 9x. I have that on one of my 10/22 and it is a wonderful scope.
