This is my 3rd M223 4X-16X BDC scope. One is mounted on each of my Varmint Bull Barrel ARs.
Great scope: excellent clarity, good eye relief, adjustable objective, bullet drop compensator reticle, fog and shock proof, holds a zero, target turrets - in short it has all the features I need in a varmint scope and is 2/3 the cost of a comparable Leupold or Burris scope! Enough said.
Also have an M223 3X-12X mounted on another AR that is not a Bull Barrel and won't be used against ferocious prairie dogs. :-)

I have a similar Leupold 1-4x scope on another rifle and I do not feel the optics are superior, the BDC is spot on. I have run thousands of rounds through my rifle with this scope in the last 3 years, including two trips to Front Sight NV, and feel it is an excellent accessory. I had it out to the range last weekend and was aiming at a 355 yard mule deer silouette: hit it every shot. The only problem I had was with the Nikon scope mount which came loose after about 600 rounds: it was my fault for not checking it. A drop of LockTite Blue and it has not budged since.

I mounted one of these on my RRA AR-15 about a year ago during the time Nikon was giving you the mount when you purchased the scope. I chose to go with the "Nikoplex" reticle. I would really have preferred a "Mil-Dot" reticle but they didn't offer it in this scope. Mounting and sighting in was very straight forward. I shot 2 rounds at 50 yds. I was about 4" right and 4" low. I adjusted and fired another round which hit dead center. I then backed up to 100yds and fired 2 rounds, made the adjustments fired two more rounds and they hit dead center. That was it. 5 rounds. I haven't backed up to 200 yds, yet. I intended to hunt deer with this rifle using 62grn Sierra Gamekings but I didn't get it done for last fall (2012) so used my 270WSM instead. Hope to use it this fall. I also hunt coyotes with 50-55 grn bullets.
I wish they had offered the 4-16x42 when I purchased this but this is really all I need 12x is sufficient. If I want higher I go to my other rifles. This glass is clear. My wife has a Nikon on her 270 and loves it.
