This thing is unreal for the money. I have a couple of prostaffs and they are great too. I can't imagine how the monarch can be any better, but somehow nikon does it. I will never drop the money for another leupold after shooting these for about half the money, or waste the money on a cheap scope, go ahead and spend the money on a nikon and step up to a new world of shooting. Super clear, good eye relief, and very easy to zero.

I sighted in my rifle and headed out of state to make a hunt.My rifle rode in my truck for 1000miles one way.on the last afternoon of the hunt my gun fell against the trailor hitch put a small dent in the scope.When i got home i took it to the range and it was still dead on. I am very impressed.

Bought the Nikon Buckmaster 6-18-40 with bdc and also purchased the leupoid mounts and rings with it and put it on my Remington 30-06 700 SPSS and it was easy to sight right in. Before i even touched the sights it was shooting about 3-4 in high and 2 1/2in to the right. It would of taken me 3 shots to sight it in however do to the fact that i didnt notice it goes in 1/8 increments it took me seven shots to sight it in but either way the scope is clear as can be i love that u can focus the scope the more u magnify it and u have an adjustable setting on the front of your scope to help u with parallax and it does make a difference. recommend this scope to anyone and cant wait to go hunting this weekend

I have a TIKKA T3 in 308 WIN. I am planning to put the bushmaster 3X9 or 4/4.5X12/14 BTC on it. I think the supplied rings are quite short. Will the 50mm scope have the needed clearance? Or should I stick to the 40. Thank you in advance for your reply.Answers

A friend of mine shoots the Tikka T3 for silhouette and with a 50MM obj she needed to go to ultra high rings to get clearance. For my money, I would go with the 40MM so you arent limited in what rings you can use and you can get the right scope height for you.Answers

In my opinion the silver scope doesn't look like a chrome finish so the glare is minimal. No more than a gloss black scope.

I'd go with the 4.5x14x40bdc. The bdc reticle could come in handy and the light penetration will be the same as the 50 as the diameter has little to do with light.

I have the 4.5x14x40 bdc. I love it. It has a bright sight picture and is really sharp. I use it on a Ruger M77 30-.06 and once sighted in it really holds up to all kinds of bumps and bag drops. I do the same type of hunting and this scope works very well for me.Q:Â

The Buckmasters and ProStaff are both good scopes. Unless you are going to be in competition or have a desire to be as accurate as possible I would go with the Buckmasters. Keep in mind that most accuracy problems are with the shooter and not with the equipment. Once you max out and can't get any closer with your existing equipment is the only time I would look at paying a premium for equipment.A:Â
In reality, it really depends on the rifle you intend on using the scope on. If the rifle has medium or above recoil, you definitely want the Buckmaster. The Prostaff is a good "entry level" scope but the Buckmaster has better glass and better overall craftmanship. Remember, "you get what you pay for"A:Â
The Pro Staff is a good scope. I have one on top of my truck gun. But the durability, clarity and amount of light that the Buckmaster draws in are far superior than the Pro Saff. If you're wanting a scope to just throuhg in you're truck and go shoot some coyotes, the Pro Staff is right up you're ally. But for me all my deer rifles have Buckmasters on them!!! Hope this helps

The only real difference between the two is the light transmission and it's not much. They both have plenty of clarity for you to be able to see at dusk/dawn at legal shooting light, but you'll be able to see your crosshairs a little better with the buckmaster. My BIL has one on his 35 rem and it holds up to that recoil and my Buckmasters has held up to 270 and 30-06 recoil.Details:Â
I purchased a nikon buckmaster rifle scope 3x9x40 some years ago for a browning a-bolt 270 wsm. the windage and elevation adjustments didn't work properly. i replaced it with a simmons aetec 2.5x10x50. i love the clearity of nikon products. i have nikon lens in my eyeglasses, nikon digital camera and a pair of nikon binoculors.Answers
