Dehydrate more food in hours, not days, with the Gardenmaster Pro Food Dehydrator from Nesco®. Using its powerful 1000-watt heating unit and specially designed Converga-Flow® air circulation system, the Gardenmaster dehydrates food on up to 30 trays. Using a quiet 2400 RPM motor and specially designed 4-1/2'' fan, Converga-Flow moves heated air up the exterior pressurized chamber and horizontally across each tray for fast, nutritious, and even drying. This quick and even drying system keeps flavors from mixing and eliminates the need for rotating trays. Its 100% solid state heating unit features adjustable temperature control, allowing you to change the heating temperature from 95-155°F for best results. The clear 2-1/2" insulated top cover allows you to see the food dehydrate while allowing virtually no heat loss. The Gardenmaster Pro's Vita-Save® opaque exterior blocks light to retain more nutrients and vitamins. Dehydrator comes with four trays, a 52-page recipe book, instruction book, 1 mesh sheet, 1 solid sheet, and 1 packet of jerky spice. Add up to 30 additional trays with Add-A-Trays® accessory. When my husband wanted to buy a dehydrator, I thought great something else that will get little use and take up prescious space in our small kitchen. The previous dehydrator we had many years ago was very noisy, had to have the trays rotated and took forever, broke down in know time. The Nesco Gardenmaster has been excellent. Although making deer and beef jerky was supposed to be my husband's project it has been falling to me to do something with the meat he has sliced. This dehydrator cooks evenly and quickly we are currently using it with six trays and still all the jerky is done at the same time. We have made numerous batches of jerky and continue to be pleased every time. I would highly recommend this product to anyone in the market for a dehydrator.

Worked great until a a few weeks after the warranty was up, then the fan dies. I kept this clean, it appears brand new still, no dirt build up, no wear and tear, nothing. Nesco will not sell you replacement parts and as such you can get stuck with hundreds of dollars in accesories and no way to get your machine repaired. In the email i got back after requesting parts they mention a few "servicing centers". The nearest one to me is a 4 hour drive. I will never buy another Nesco product, what poor service.

I got this dehydrator from my mother-in-law a year ago, made my first batch of jerky a few days later, and haven't looked back. A whole batch of jerky, start to finish, only takes me 5 hours (including slicing time the night before). With young kids I'm eager to try drying some fruit. If it does fruit the way it does jerky, I know they'll love it. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a lock to keep greedy fingers out of it until the jerky is done.

I bought for my boyfriend ...he has had dehydrator's in the passed. He stated that this was is so much nicer and user friendly. He has made jerky which is my favorite. roll ups and dehydrated fruit. All awesome!

Yes. It works great on herbs. Some tiny herbs like chives may have an issue with falling thru the mesh. Bit I've done fennel, rosemary, basil, tyme, orageno, green onions, & parsley with no issues. I just leave them all attached to their stems to dry them. Just don't mess with them once they are in there until they are totally dry. It you try to move them around on the racks once they wilt but before they dry, you could end up with a slimy/messy rack. (happened to me once w/ basil). Best to load an entire rack of one type & add/remove entire racks as different herbs finish if doing a mixed load. (must have 5 racks at all times even if the racks are empty)

Yes this will work well for dehydrating herbs and spice. It has a temperature control setting on it so you can bring the temperature down.Answers

No. It has one switch. It's off or it's on. You have to manually turn it off when whatever you are drying is done. Most things will take 6-8 hrs to finish. I go to bed with it on all the time, but don't usually leave the house and leave it running. It's low temp, so won't really "burn" anything. The worst that will happen is that you'll end up with whatever you were drying powdered. When that happens (rarely), I just pulversize it for boullion, seasoning, or soup mix.

No, the only unit with a digital timer is the FD-1020 http://www.nesco.com/products/FD-10.... You can set the timer to go off at a certain time, it will turn off whenever you set the timer for. At this time, we do not offer the FD-1020 Gardenmaster Digital Pro Food Dehydrator.Thanks

They are very durable. The only warning on them is not to put them thru the dishwasher with the dryer cycle on. I also wouldn't put them on a hot stove or in the oven. I've been using mine almost weekly for 6 mos and the trays have not warped one bit. It also says to use only rags or soft bristle brushes to clean the racks. I guess they could scratch or break if you tried to scrub them with steel wool or something. Under normal use & cleaning, no issues.

Yes, the trays are durable in all of Gardenmaster units. However, after a long time of use, the trays are plastic & they do tend to get brittle or loose their shape from the heat of use. ThanksAnswers

Yes, it is dishwasher safe (with a NO DRYER cycle). With a dab of cooking spray before using it, it's so easy to handwash that you won't want to waste the dishwasher space. The motor is from the top, so it just wipes off with a damp cloth. 2) You can ORDER the solid tray for fruit rolls or energy bars. It does not come with it. The order form is in the box w/ the website, phone #, & address. It will cost $9-$10 (depending on size) plus $6.50 shipping.A:

Yes. GREAT for veggies. We love to do tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, to a totally dry powder and store them in mason jars for seasoning to any dish we are cooking. We do brocolli, califlower, potatoes, carrots, etc to a more leathery texture for a quick snack or to add to soups & stews without having to chop/prep veggies every day to cook every meal. Also a great way to clean out the fridge of almost past it's prime produce and save it for a bit longer.A:
