Refer to application chart for product selection (found below in the Description tab)
  • Smoother and faster acceleration (great for skiing)
  • 40% less bow rise and 35% lower on plane speed (great for tubing)
  • More top speed and no porpoising or chine walking
  • Improves handling and smoother ride in any water
  • Improved fuel economy (11%+)
  • Molded composite material is rust-and corrosion-free
  • Free demonstration and installation DVD included

From small boats to large crafts, the Smart Tabs SX automatic trim and stabilizer system provides unequaled performance with smoother and faster acceleration. The durable, maintenance-free Smart Tabs SX system improves fuel efficiency by up to 11%, while also improving handling by automatically adjusting to water pressure. At slow speeds, the Smart Tabs SX deploy downward to increase stern lift and keep the boat level, allowing the boat to plane easier and faster. At cruising speeds, Smart Tabs SX are pushed to a horizontal position but remain under load, creating ride control like shock absorbers.

Molded from rust- and corrosion-free composite materials, the easy-to-install Smart Tabs SX system uses a nitrogen gas actuator to hold the plates down during acceleration and provide lift to the stern. Plate size and pressure are determined by the boat size and horsepower at the time of installation. After installation, Smart Tabs SX can be tuned to your preference.

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Money well spent-100% impressed I installed the SX9510-60's on my 2004 19' Crownline 192 BR open bow, with 4.3 V6 I/O. The boat didn't have any adverse characteristics that I was trying to overcome, I just wanted the added benefits claimed by Nauticas. I am extremely impressed. I can now pull a tube with 2 people out of the hole and up on plane by only using 1/2 throttle! No more full throttle until up on plane. Also, the boat comes up on plane almost immediately, the ride is much, MUCH smoother and it allows me to trim the out-drive up sooner and a bit higher to get better fuel economy, but the bow stays planted. Additionally, the boat can go about 3-4 mph slower before it drops off plane. I haven't had them on long enough to get a good feel for improvements in fuel economy, but since I just have a V-6, it's pretty good on gas already. Also, my previous top speed was 47mph and I haven't checked the different yet because it's been too rough the last few weeks. I didn't install these to increase the top end and seldom run wide open, since we are just skiing, tubing or cruising. There are no adverse affects on high speed turns, as I've heard a few others talk about. And perhaps the biggest benefit is that the low speed wander is entirely eliminated! This was the biggest surprise! Installation took me about 1 hour, and was very simple. They required no subsequent adjustments. I couldn't be happier with them and will recommend them to all my boating friends! Worth every cent! July 26, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by These do work Installed on Key West 18cc with 130 Etec Due to swim platform the installation was more inboard. Using same propeller and full load of fuel, these tabs set on #5 allowed me to plane at 3000 rpm at 20 mph without tabs I could not plane until 3500 rpm at 25 mph. For my purposes this is a very big advantage. Keeps bow stable and reduces bow rise. Improves lateral stability. Helps reduce fuel burn, average 6 hour day of cruising and trolling made fuel consumption go from 14 gallons to 12 gallons. Top end speed did not change. Good product, installation video and instructions very easy to follow. June 11, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product I recommend, it's a very good. Best than a HIDROFOIL. May 6, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product The trim tabs were very helpful, they helped the boat plane out quicker than any other product I have used. They also gave me more top end speed, better maneuverability, and fuel efficiency by about 5%. April 11, 2012

How do these install on aluminum boat? Do they need to be bolted through the transom with a washer and nut on the other side or do they just screw into the hull from the outside of the boat and no need to do anything from inside the boat?

Hi, thank you for your inquiry. Assembly can be completed in seconds and the installation in a few minutes. The only tools required are a drill with a 3/16" bit and a phillips screwdriver. Insulation instructions: http://www.nauticusinc.com/images/SX-INSTALL.gif and Video: http://www.nauticusinc.com/smart_tabsSX_automatic_trim_tabs.htm. Screw into the hull from the outside of the boat.

Not sure which ones you need to buy. I put a set on my 19’ Bullet. Love them is all I can say. Almost on a plan at takeoff. My son and his friends ski and wakeboard. These made a world of difference for them too. Get them, you wont be disappointed.

I have a 2012 Bass Tracker 175TXW and am wondering which model to use on my boat and if they will help slow down the trolling speed of the motor? I have a 4 stroke 60 HP EFI.

Nauticus makes a troll tab for that purpose. "Pro Troller" you need the lever bracket that nauticus sells to replace the top stationary bracket on the smart tabs- it holds the tabs in a lower position for slower trolling.

I don't think this will slow down your boat for trolling....I suggest you get one or two five gallon buckets, drill one inch holes around all sides and several thru the bottom....drag the buckets to the side of your boat with rope when trolling. They will drop your speed some. I drag one bucket on my boat so I can increase rpm's to a more favorable range while remaining at a slower speed for trolling..

good luck

Yes, make sure you get the correct size. Pro Trollers on my 16' Bass Tracker Pro Guide slow the idle speed from about 2.4 mph to about 1.6 mph depending on wind and current

Smart Tabs will not decrease you top speed unless you are running a light hull too small for the recommended hydraulic cylinders or tab bodies too large. Be sure to follow NaticusInc advice on sizing and piston strentgh. (60 or 80 pounds)

I haven't noticed much change with uneven weight listing while at high speed, but my boat was pretty stable to begin with. I'm sure they help, but not as much as you might think.

They help a little with listing. But I'm using them on a narrow beam (75") alum. boat. I don't think they are made to solve listing. They work well at planing speed and deceleration in following seas

You won't need the cavitation plate hydrofoil devices of any kind-- it is not recommended that you try to use both- they work against each other.. The tabs will make you wonder why you ever used the hydrofoil.

I'd say yes. They mount on the outside edge of the transom. I don't think you'd need the Hydra Foil with Pro Trollers.

I am John From Nauticus / Smart Tabs and will be happy to help you or any other consumer with technical questions.

A hydrofoil is an additional planing device as are Trim Tabs of any type. It is never a good idea to add two planing devices, especially those which can not or are not adjustable. Because the Hydrofoil is a fixed device it will lift the stern at an increasing rate as the speed increases. This in combination with trim tabs will drive the bow into the water creating handling problems such as listing to the left, laying over hard in turns, and bow steering (wandering).

Trim tabs are more effective since they start in a deployed position (angled down to get more lift sooner) and can be adjusted to the needs of the individual boat.

In short - do not use both.

Hope this helps.
