We purchased this gun to use with the NXT Generation 3D deer target, that we had originally purchased to use with the NXT Generation Rapid Riser bow. I was surprised at how consistent the shotgun is. At about 10 yards you have to aim about 4-6 inches high and 2-3 inches to the right with our gun (not sure why, but it shoots a little to the left), but once you figure out where to aim you can shoot pretty tight groups with it. Those little darts actually shoot pretty fast. It hasn't shown any signs of breaking yet, and still shoots hard after much use. Great for teaching young children to shoot and getting them interested in the outdoors. I even find myself shooting it quite a bit when the kids aren't around. It is slow to load and it is difficult for young kids to load, but that hasn't really been a stumbling block for us. Kids need to learn patience anyways.

This is my first review and I hope it will help another parent not make the same mistake. We bought this gun for our 9 year old boy who loves playing army. It broke the day after Christmas (handle broke off by the trigger). He was not playing hard with the gun. He was just shooting and reloading. Save your money and stay away from this gun.

I have purchased several of the shotguns, the first ones were for my grandsons and the others were for their cousins and friends. They have had many many hours of fun with the shotguns and crossbows. The first target was the deer and we have since added the pig, turkey and bear. The kids have created their own hunting range in our yard. I would highly recommend the shotgun...and know that the expectation is that they are a toy! I am very skeptical of those that claim the product is inferior - I tend to believe that the older kids may expect to treat them as "weapons" for actual hunting. The shotgun is perfect for the smaller hands. I purchased the first ones over 16 months ago and they are still be used to this day. I will be watching for new products.
