My Wife and Kids gave this vest to me for my birthday last thursday becasue they are afraid of me falling into the lake while fishing (it's happened before) My caring wife made me promiss to wear it whenever Im on the lake. So the day after I got it I went fishing and I have to say I barly noticed that it was on. It was a hot day and I thought that the collar would get hot, but it actually kept me cool. I usually research the heck out of anything I buy, And I have to say if It was me buying one I would buy this one. your basically getting the quality of a Mustang vest and a lower cost. Oh and The vest was 199 when my wife bought it last week and then it went on sale for 169. I called bass pro and they put 30 back on my card and they put 300 point on my rewards acount since my wife didn't use my bass pro card. Thanks Bass Pro!

Wore for the first time and it is very comfortable. Almost like its not there. I have an 8 year old son and didn't think it was fair making him wear one and not me. So I purchased the Mustang. I hope it nevere has to deploy so I really can't say it works but I feel confident it will.

Lightweight comfortable and it really works! I recently bought one for my Dad and he loves it. A buddy of his has one and fell overboard while they were fishing one day. He went completely under water when all of a sudden WHOOSH! The mustang inflated and he bobbed to the surface like a big cork! You just can't put a price on life and this vest will definitely keep you afloat in a crisis!

Most adults only need an extra 7 to 12 lb (3.2 to 5.5 kg) of flotation to keep their heads above water. The proper chest size PFD will properly support the weight of the wearer.Estimated weight is upto 420 pound person.

It can not be disabled be it can be removed. You have to remove the CO2 cylinder and the bobbin. The vest can still be inflated orally. Make sure it is completely dry before replacing the CO2 cylinder and bobbin.

Is it OK or advisable to wear the vest under a raincoat to prevent inflation during a heavy storm?

It may not inflate properly under a jacket if you fell overboard. It shouldn't auto inflate in the rain because it has to be submerged to inflate. That being said, if you are trying to keep rain off of YOU you might could wear a loose poncho.A:Â
The owner's manual says not to wear it under clothing because it could injure you if it inflates. It's probably best to store it if you can or at least make sure the outer clothing is loose.

The vest should not be worn under any clothing. If you fall in the coat might prevent the inflation and you might not be able to manual inflate the vest. Not recommended.Answers

Pretty much the same except that the $229.00 one has a bigger Mustang logo on it and a whistle. I opted for the cheaper of the two so that I could by an extra rearming kit. Then I added a $6.00 whistle to the vest.A:Â
I talked with a person from Mustang Survival. The only difference in this vest and the tournament vest for 229.00 is the big Mustang logo down the one side. She said other than that they are identical. She said you are paying for the name.A:Â
