Mustad's revolutionary Slow Death Walleye Hooks feature a special kinked shank which generates a truly effective corkscrew presentation. The Slow Death Walleye Hooks are designed for what walleye pros call the Slow Death technique where a bottom bouncer weight is added to a main line with a medium length monofilament leader rigged with a live night crawler. This versatile technique combines the attractiveness of live bait with an irresistible action that allows you to present the live bait in places fast blades skip over.Tip: Thread half a night crawler up the shank of a Slow Death Walleye Hook with 1/4'' to 1/2'' hanging off the hook.

first time using these hooks I caught I 29" walleye and two 26.5 " walleyes in the the same day, while no one else on the lake was catching. I use them on a 3 ft fluorocarbon leader with a red bead above the hook and a barrel swivel on the end of the leader to help prevent tangling. I have also caught splake, rainbow and brook trout the same way. I find this setup works best in clear water lakes

I never used the slow death hooks till I trolled for walleye with my brothert-in-law this spring. He swears by them used with a bottom bouncer. We catch fish often when others aren't. They have good action.

The hooks seem to be o.k. but if any impovement could be made it is the strength. However the the leader was strong enough you could probable straighten them out without loosing the entire slow death assembly. Leader line needs to be strong(8 to 10 lb line).

Used these hooks with a gulp pumpkin seed nightcrawler on a bottom bouncer. The slow rolling action is just a killer. I was catching walleyes 3 to 1 over 3 other guys in the boat. I had pounder gills hammer it too. The red hooks seems to be a bit more advantage.
