I have been reading up on the wide gap hooks for throwing tubes. I came across these via searching and the guys from Bass Pro.
To start with I was kinda excited as Mustad hooks are my go to hook for every application. I have been using them since I was a kid. My father and his father used them. With that said, when the hook that is recommended for tubes is of my favorite brand, I was thrilled.
I started off by testing the strength of these hooks. I bought the 4/0 size. These are super strong. I would have no issues hauling in a 5 plus pound fish using these hooks. I did get hung up on some timber and using 50 pound braid, needless to say it took everything I had to get this out without cutting all my line. The hook was just slightly bent down before the limb came free. I had to yank and pull like no other. I had to end up wrapping the line around a wooden rod and walking backwards. With that amount of force on the line and hook, I now have a new favorite hook and line.
One thing I do wish I could find was a larger quantity of hooks instead of buying 3-4 packages. That's really my only complaint about these.
I highly recommended you give these hooks a shot if your going to run some tubes.

The hooks work well in open water, but not fishing weeds. Ive had a problem with grass and weeds getting between the bait and the grip pin causing snags. A few fish have used this flaw to their advantage. Mustad makes good hooks, but this one isn't for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DavidHenry10 Great Idea but they WRECK plastic
Fished these the past two days with a senko. They do what they say they do-they hold the bait on the hook and prevent it from sliding down. BUT...they tear up the baits! I get half the normal life with these hooks out of my plastics. The extra pin tears the plastic, and since the lure cannot slide down, in return the plastic tears. I am sticking with my Gamakatsu.

Worm , tube , jerkbait , senko , soft plastic no slip, especially when the bait has already caught a fish and has stretched and ripped a little. Strait game changer.
