i was going to purchase a dozen or more of these. i got just 1 to test it 1st. this leader snapped at 40 lbs.
if you read other product reviews. every leader is over rated and are all breaking without coming close to the rating.
this is a great leader if you are just using 20 lb line.

If you love all the other Musky Mania products that are available, then this bucktail leader will be no different.
It is a lightweight 7-strand leader with a really nice ball-bearing swivel that prevents the bucktail from twisting your line. The crosslock snap is tough, and you have to make sure that you hook all the way across the snap, and not just inside the first curve. If it's snapped right, it will hold tight with large bucktails and big fish on.
My biggest fish on this leader was 43", but a guide friend of mine who also uses this leader, has had a number of fish in the 50" range hit bucktails on this leader. If that isn't a testiment to this leaders strength and durability, then nothing is.

Why does the leader have to be so heavy when the main line is 12 or 14# test?Answers
A:Â
it is so that the fishes teeth do not bite or cut through the leader. if the leader was much lighter it would break fairly easy. those leader will break at 40 lbs.A:Â
The leader is a much heavier test line due to the muskies that are targeted with this leader having very sharp teeth. The main line needs to be at a lower test rating to help get your deep diving crankbaits and lures down to the muskies depths (as larger test lines have larger diameters and will cause the lure to ride higher in the water).1 of 1
