Moultrie Econo Plus Feeder Kit
I have used the black metal Moultrie brain unit for many years but had to change out the plastic cone & plastic spinner plate because the squirrels & coons would chew & eat them to the point that the plastic cones & spinner plates would not work properly.
Now, the black honey bears have made a come back on my East Texas deer lease so how does black ABS plastic going to hold up to squirrels, coons & black honey bears chewing & scratching on the ABS plastic of this Moultrie Econco Plus Feeder Kit ?
Will the bolt holes in the legs of the black ABS plastic feeder kit bolt into the same hole pattern of old black metal Moultrie brain unit on my Moultrie 30 gallon barrel feeder ?

I've been using this feeder trouble free for over 2 years. I had the old style feeder motor from Moultrie before that. It had the twist on cone that was a nightmare to get on and off when there was corn anywhere around. This design, though cheap, is very effective and works well. Like i said, it's been running for over 2 years without any problems. I wouldn't recommend using a disposable 6V, get a good rechargeable for about twice the price. From what i remember, the disp. battery lasts 2-4 weeks, depending on the quality of battery and temperature. A rechargeable will last up to 6 months, and even longer during the warm months.

Wow! What an upgrade!
I had the original unit on the bottom of my feeder. The battery was always getting pinched at the leads, and the spinner did not work very well after a while. Eventually a buck knocked the entire feeder off the hanger bracket, and I had to get a new unit. This unit is far superior to the old one. Battery goes in horizontally instead of vertical, and the unit comes apart with a wing nut instead of the old twist-and-lock fitment. I am glad the deer broke the old one. This one is a lot less maintanance!

I had this unit for one year and it quit working about the time the warranty was up. Granted I never brought it in out of the elements, but isn't it supposed to be made for outdoor use? I have sent it back to moultrie along with a camera that has quit working. I guess I will find out how good their customer service department is. Word to the wise never lose your receipts. Don't ask me how I know!
