Rated 2 out of 5 by countryperson poor motorola rechargeable batteries
The performance of the radio is great ; however, the fact that the rechargeable battery doesn't hold its charge after time is so poor. The fact that you have to buy the charger and batteries with the radio is a rip. I have spoken to motorola and they don't stand behind their battery.. The representatives I dealt with told me not to expect more that 4 hours of use on a recharged battery. So if your planning a full day of use take disposable batteries with you. Hopefully no one is really in need of communication for emergency with the standard issue motorola rechargeable batteries, they may not be able to call for help in an emergency.

If you live near hills do not waste your money, if you live somewhere flat like a desert or a corn field in Nebraska they might work

Bought these for my 12 year old granddaughter to play with friends in the woodlot behind her house. She takes them with her when family goes to the mall shopping, ship to shore when fishing etc. Specifically wanted waterproof feature. They are tough and perform great.
