poor motorola rechargeable batteries The performance of the radio is great ; however, the fact that the rechargeable battery doesn't hold its charge after time is so poor. The fact that you have to buy the charger and batteries with the radio is a rip. I have spoken to motorola and they don't stand behind their battery.. The representatives I dealt with told me not to expect more that 4 hours of use on a recharged battery. So if your planning a full day of use take disposable batteries with you. Hopefully no one is really in need of communication for emergency with the standard issue motorola rechargeable batteries, they may not be able to call for help in an emergency. July 11, 2012
Not for hunting I bought a pair of these radios for my last hunting trip. I managed to turn off most of the loud beeps for most things but couldn't turn off the Push to Talk (PTT) beep. After 3 hours of hunting I wanted to make sure my new hunter buddy was okay but when I pushed the PTT button a very loud beep was vastly distinguishable from my soft talk. There was no hiding it. And when I turned up the radio the PTT beep got even louder. I'm sure the deer were wondering who the idiot with the loud radios was and thanking me for the warning! Probably good for fishing, etc. October 23, 2013
Does the Job These radios were a gift to be used for hunting in Idaho. The range diminishes quickly on inclement weather situations but on a clear day works great. They are a bit bulky when carrying and as all hunters know every little bit of weight counts on a long hunt. I really liked the weather option. Never got it wet so couldn’t tell if it is truly waterproof. I would recommend in spite of the comments above! October 25, 2013
Died on first trip One of the radios in the set died when it was splashed by water while fishing from my kayak. No radio for the remainder of a ten day trip. Very poor range, less than a mile on open water. Hopefully it was just this radio as the other radio seems to work fine. I did not test it's waterproof capability out of fear of ruining that radio also. Both have been sent back for repair/replacement. June 30, 2013
