Rated 5 out of 5 by USA! USA! I ordered and received my VeriMAX Saltwater Hand-Control Motor, unfortunately the box arrived badly damaged with holes in it. I called Bass Pro shops and next-day aired a new motor. However, this box also came badly damaged and very dirty. I opened it up and found the head control was damaged and there were loose screws inside the box. I decided at this time that I was going to take the motor out because I had already put in for my vacation days the following week, which I intended to spend fishing on my boat. When I hooked up the new motor and turned it on, it began to make funny noises and started smoking. I took it off and called Bass Pro shops again and again they sent me another next-day air. I was apprehensive, but I agreed. The new motor arrived several days later and to my pleasant surprise, the third motor was a charm! The box came undamaged and clean. I assembled the motor and found that the parts fit together much better than the previous motor. I noticed that the first two motors had been made in China, however, the third motor, was made in the USA. The motors were exactly the same, however, the USA model not only runs but runs better than I had anticipated. Moral of the story, USA made is the way to go, and Bass Pro shops did not quit until I was satisfied. Thank you, Bass Pro Shops and thank you, motor guide USA for a great motor! May 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Variable speed is the way to go I bought this variable speed trolling motor because I borrowed a Motor Guide 45 lb 5 speed and the pelican 10 ft boat would not slow down enough to troll for crappie. This motor goes from dead slow to 4 mph. I really recomend a variable speed for any one. February 28, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fresh and saltwater Works well in both saltwater and freshwater! I use it on my kayak, and my 14 foot bay boat. January 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Strong Motor This motor has it all . It replaced a old Minn Kota variable speed 50 lb. thrust motor that had seen its better day. I had some doubts about not going back with the same brand, but this Motor Guide Varimax 55 is a step above any motor I've ever owned.Ease of use, quiet, and the battery seems to be less drained,oh and the power is outstanding.this motor for the money is a must buy. Variable per MotorGuide
Digital variable-speed control minimizes amp draw and maximizes fishing time. Fish up to 3.5-times longer than a 5-speed motor.
