Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Motor Motorguide always makes a good product, battery seemed to last much longer with varimax. May 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works Great I installed this trolling motor on my wife's 11 foot ocean kayak with a custom aluminum bracket I made and it works really great. It does not have too much weight to bring down the back end of the kayak and the 45 pound thrust really scoots this kayak along. I would recommend this product for kayaks. May 9, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by 1Terrific Motor I purchased this motor early this spring and have put many hours on both in fresh and salt water. My kayak is a Wilderness Commander 120 that I purchased for salmon and halibut fishing. This motor is ideal for my unit because the shaft length suits my boat. Also, I am able to get one to two days of baitcast fishing on my battery -- 27D deep cycle. I find that the propellor cuts kelp and other weeds very well. My only complaint is the forward-reverse setting are backwards. It is too easy to shift into reverse by pushing the throttle handle backwards when reaching for the control. September 6, 2011

A:
The thrust would probably be enough, however, the shaft is probably not long enough. You will want to measure your boat when it is fully loaded with gear and people for a regular day of fishing. Measure from intended mounting location (transom or bow) to the waterline of the loaded boat. Then add 18 inches. That's the shaft length you are looking for.
