From the back coves to the big water, MotorGuide's Freshwater Bow Mount Trolling Motor series has you covered for the long haul. The Freshwater Bow Mount Foot-Control Trolling Motor series comes in 12 and 24-volt models with 5-speed and digital variable speed power systems. The motor's dependable rack and pinion steering system has been in the MotorGuide line for several years and is a very simple straight forward design known for its long lasting durability. Thrust ratings for the Freshwater Foot-Control models run from 46 to 71 lbs. of thrust.

The Gator® Flex 360 Mount is built from proprietary XK360 die-cast lightweight aluminum, and its strength-to-weight ratio optimizes boat performance and its unique isolator feature protects the motor in shallow water and heavy cover situations. The 20.8 Gator Breakaway Mount is built with an extruded aluminum base and hinged door that allows the prop to be stowed in either direction (inside or outside the boat) for added versatility. The chart below indicates which models include the #20.8 Gator Breakaway Mount.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sticking with Motorguide My 8,000+ hour Motorguide finally broke so I ordered this one. So far so good! My old motor was a 52lb and I am surprised at the increase in power going to the 54lb, nice! I do get a bit of a vibration sound at full speed in a straight line, that's why it gets a 4 not a 5. Overall I am pleased however. I couldn't bring myself to go Minn Kota, the button is on the left side and I have always run Motorguides with the button on the right side, just feels more natural to me personally. April 18, 2013

While operating, there is approximately 4 ft. of cord leading up to the foot control pedal depending on how shallow or deep you have the motor running in the water. Thanks!

A: 
On a 24 volt system when using 2 - 12 volt batteries. Connect the positive post of the first battery to the negative post of the second battery. Connect the positive post of the second battery to the positive side of the motor. Connect the negative post of the first battery to the ground of the motor or controller. When disconnecting always remove the ground first and when connecting always connect the ground last.

You will want to measure your boat when it is fully loaded with gear and people for a regular day of fishing. Measure from intended mounting location (transom or bow) to the waterline of the loaded boat. Then add 18 inches. That's the shaft length you are looking for.

You will want to measure your boat when it is fully loaded with gear and people for a regular day of fishing. Measure from intended mounting location (transom or bow) to the waterline of the loaded boat. Then add 18 inches. That's the shaft length you are looking for.

It appears the shaft length is the actual total length of the shaft. However, some of the shaft extends into the mechanism on top the shaft, and some of the shaft extends into the motor at the bottom, so the actual exposed shaft length is a couple of inches or so less than the listed length.
