I planted this about 2 years ago in early Spring here in the Foothills of NC. I made sure to take a soil test and luckily I didn't have to adjust the pH at all. The alfalfa has done great and has outcompeted the weeds. This plot even made it through the 2007 drought we had here in NC, and that made me a huge believer in this product.
NOTE: THE pH HAS TO BE AT LEAST 6.5. Don't waste your money if your soil fertility is horrible. That's the reason for most of the failures with any food plot, poor soil fertility. Take the time to take a soil test and determine whether or not you have time to correct any problems before planting. Don't plant this product in a really wet soil though, b/c alfalfa doesn't like to stay wet. In my opinion, having a good firm seedbed is the key in planting any small seed like clover and alfalfa.
This product is still going strong and the deer love eating the new growth. If the deer don't eat it enough, then mow the alfalfa and the deer will hit the new growth hard. I would definitely recommend this product to any friend!
