The Mossberg 510 Mini Super Bantam Shotgun is a great choice for first time shooters, or anyone who wants a lightweight shotgun. Mossberg's 510 Mini is Mossberg's most compact design ever and is arguably the world's smallest fully-functional pump action shotgun.  Comes with a vent rib barrel, 3'' chamber, 2 + 1 capacity, fixed-mod choke, and an adjustable black synthetic stock. Dual bead sights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Starter We won a .410 Mini in a raffle. I had looked at them in the store and thought it was a perfect 'starter' shotgun for my younger kids. My oldest daughter started with a Remi 20 guage at 15 years old and quickly did well with clays and upland birds. I was apprehensive about starting the younger kids with a shotgun. I took the 9 year old twin girls to the range (they'd never shot more than a bb gun), and they were comfortable with it and shooting well right off the bat. It was a little heavy for my 7 year old boy to keep under control, but the girls are now hooked. The size and weight are good for younger shooters, and the action is easy for them to handle (easier than the Red Ryder). Ammo is a little pricey and not much selection, but it's around. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent choice Bought this gun for my wife spring of 2013. She is under 5 feet tall and less than 100 lbs. She loves to shoot but the only shotgun she would attempt was my old single shot bolt action .410. This little Bantam .410 mini is perfect for her. We tried the different butt plates until she found one that fit her best. After just a few rounds she was knockin' "em down like a pro. She uses this gun for fun as well as home defense. I can't say enough about the staff at Bass Pro. This gun was not in stock at our local store so they had one shipped in without any commitment from us. Excellent help with teaching her the operation of the gun. When I asked about pattern size and using this gun for close range home defense they took the time to explain it to HER suggesting that for home defense the gun would be better with a cylinder barrel. They even suggested a local gunsmith who could convert it to interchangeable chokes like the big bore expensive guns. This gun fits our needs perfectly, shoots flawlessly, and the Bass Pro service was excellent. PS: Another local chain store sells this gun for $50 less but did not have one in stock. I asked them to order one in for me to look at. They told me they had no control over what came in to their store therefore they could not do that. I wasted 3 months waiting for this gun to come in. I should have gone to Bass Pro first. PRICE IS NOT EVERYTHING! March 3, 2014

can you get a slug barrell?

Answer this Question

No, but for $160. I'm having the choke bored out and threaded for various choke tubes including cylinder bore for rifled slugs. I don't think sabots are available in .410

This comes with a fixed choke modified cylinder barrel with dual bead sights. You can shoot slugs with it but it is a fairly narrow choke and accuracy can suffer slightly. Possible, yes. Advisable, not so much.

The 20 ga. version uses accu-set chokes and you can use the IC choke for decent slug use.
