Mossberg 835 This was the first thing i ever purchased from Bass Pro Shops. I have owned mine since high school. The guys that say it is to heavy, need to man up. I own a dozen shot guns that are heavier than this. This is the most versatile gun I own. I've killed ducks, geese, deer, turkey, pheasant, grouse, squirrel, rabbit and who knows what else with it. I have literally flipped my canoe with my 835 getting not only dunked but the barrel filled with mud. I ran a bore snake through it and killed ducks and geese the same day. It is by far the most durable shot gun I have. I can almost out shoot my brother in law who shoots a much more expensive semi auto. I highly recommend it!! December 14, 2013
Great Gun I bought this gun a couple years back and have never had a problem. If i was the maker of this gun i would have probably used some lighter materials but besides that its a great gun. The main reason it is heavier than most guns is because of its recoil. The gun has a phenomenal amount of recoil. I would recommend this gun to anyone who wants a great quality gun but doesn't have deep enough pockets for something like a benelli shotgun. I shot this gun at about age six and it wasn't too bad but i was born a country boy and know how to handle it. I would really recommend this gun. July 29, 2013
Great duck gun! I bought this shotgun for last duck season, and I have to say that it operated superbly. Whether I was standing chest deep in a pond in just above freezing temperatures or getting caught in a winter downpour, this gun functioned flawlessly. Never had a failure to feed, failure to eject, no cycle problems whatsoever, and always went bang whenever I pulled the trigger. Even inclement weather didn't phase it. Put over 100 rounds through it last season, and it acted like a brand new gun every single time. Can't wait to take it out next season! June 17, 2012
Worst Gun Ever If you are considering buying a new shotgun, pass this one over. I bought this gun and have had nothing but trouble with it. It constantly mis-fires and I sent it back to have Mossberg fix it and it still does the same thing. They told me to just send it back everytime it "broke down" and they would look at it. I don't want a gun that I can't trust to take hunting. So if you are into saving animals lives, then this may just be the gun for you. May 1, 2012

This would be the perfect gun for you by all standards, but really the perfect gun is the one that feels right to you, not the one someone else tells you is the right gun.

Of course you can. You may want to vary the types shells you use between the types of birds but that's what this gun was made for.

A:
It comes with 4 choke tubes and a tool to change them. An open choke, a modified choke, a full choke and an extra full choke. I usually use the modified choke for nearly all game.

The only limitation is you are not supposed to shoot slugs through this shotgun.

A:
you can use chokes infact it comes with 4 waterfowl chokes but as for your first gun I would check out the 535 ats combo because you can use rifled slugs with the 835 you can't.
